How to deal with NIL and outrageous demands in the future

How do coaches, schools and collectives deal with this NIL 'problem' going forward. The demands are going to keep increasing and the collectives can only bring in so much. Take the case of this high school WBB recruit demanding a million that hardly a few football players end up getting. These kinds of demands will 'reset' the NIL market every year - whatever be the sport.
Would it help if all the collectives came together and formed a cartel? Each player is assigned a 'price' - and the recruit gets to choose from the schools that are willing to pay that top limit. This would make coaches and relationships matter rather than just $$$. Collectives can't outbid each other and not let these high school kids/ handlers pit one school against each other. Just have to find a way to deal with the collectives that break these rules though.
Thoughts?

Either pay it or don’t
I don’t know why this breaks people’s brain cells

This is called collusion, and would immediately result in lawsuits galore, so that one's out.

Love it or hate it, this current NIL path is not sustainable. There will be a reset coming sooner than later. I personally hope it burns to the ground because of greed. Just my opinion.

The reset is going to be collectively bargained salary caps, much the same as the NFL, funded by TV contracts.

The second you put rules in place to limit NIL, you’ll have schools breaking those rules the next day.
NCAA knows this is all headed towards players being employees and collectively bargaining a revenue share model, and has known that for decades. they want to just ride the wave of this and get as much money out of it as possible until their hands are forced to make that happen legally
People also get entirely too blinded by their own jealousy and blame NIL, when NIL has little to do with the current situation. The transfer portal rules or lack there of are the true agent of chaos here. If you go back in time pre NIL and open up the same transfer portal rules we have now, you’d have the same problems, because teams were offering bags under the table back then just like they are offering them above the table now.
Every time you shake your fist at NIL, pinch yourself and remind yourself it’s the transfer portal that’s actually the thing you’re mad at.

Collusion is a crime.

I think LSU would do just fine recruiting if there was NIL earnings that didn't include paying for a commit. Never liked the idea of depending on my favorite team to come up with the most money for a recruit, but it is what it is.
I don't see what can be done about this. Seems like there will always be ways to manipulate the paying.

Very true. The transfer portal, combined with immediate eligibility, is a bigger concern. Kids can transfer every year, and they just collect more money at each stop.
The courts don't like to restrict movement, especially if that movement is tied to where a kid chooses to get an "education." The courts won't tell a kid he has to get that education at a certain school, while any non-athlete can transfer whenever and wherever they choose.
It may take another 5-10 years, but making athletes employees is likely the only solution, complete with unions and collective bargaining.

Honest to god - it's not my money and it's not my deal to make.
I'm just going to watch LSU on weekends in the fall

I’m not worried about NIL anymore. LSU is casting a wider net and going after the not so rich people who can give 1k, 5k, 10k in a year — they’re just chasing down more of them. Ole Miss is doing the same thing with success.
Also this system will self correct. Eventually a salary cap will be implemented. Unless you’re A&M and Texas you don’t have an endless supply of rich people, and rich people aren’t going to be shelling out NFL money (league minimum is $750k or so in the NFL) to 17 year old kids who haven’t played a down.
As far as the collectives that depend on the really wealthy boosters… rich people don’t get rich by throwing money down a hole. Ask any rich guy on here. A lot of them would rather drop $2M on a house than spend $300 on the nicer molded ear plugs to go hunting or something.

Get ready . NIL will soon be a part of your season tickets.
They can have all of that. I have a comfy seat at home.

You quit recruiting her, as LSU has chosen to do.
Seems simple.

Needs to be a salary cap. Or there will be no parity in the near future.
Won’t be long before the form a union and strike the day before the season opens.
