For everyone that buys into him never having a legit offer. Our coaches knew good and well this kid thought he was a solid commtiment. They know what goes on and what is said on rivals and scout. They had months to contact this kid and straighten out any confusion between he and the staff.

Yeah, but they probably just recently realized that they might need him to grey shirt.

Can somebody please give me some props for stating longtime ago that his offer was shaky. And that he didnt even have an offer when he committed???????

A poster named Wolfman (probably Bates himself) jumped my shite repeadetly. Now it has come to a head, and I was right.

You think he and his gf, or whoever she is, posted something as extreme as that on a website everyone in the nation has access to, because Houston's parents were asked to pay 1 year of tuition at LSU so Miles can better our recruting class?

Its all speculation, but I dont see it going down like that.

To the other poster, I would take Ego over Houston.

Flask

If you call what I said, 'bashing', then go back and read what others say about some of these prospects.

I am one of the many who said that this was questionable, whether he is leaving or not.

Chill out with your use of superlatives and sit back and read what everyone else is saying.

This IS a recruiting board. I don't visit their Facebooks, My Spaces and Twitters. I come here to talk about recruits and the coaches that offer them.

I am sure that there is a PG rated recruiting board somewhere....go visit that one.

flask, why would we need to grayshirt him into a dominant clas next year that is potentially short on numbers. we signed 24 last year and ainsworth left. thus we should be able to take 28 this year if necessary.

do we believe we need Bates's spot open (22 commits) and we still take 6 more to get to 28?

It would be as dumb as greyshirting Rocky D into a loaded 2008 class which da Hat did.

My statement wasn't necessarily directed at you particularly. There were plenty of people calling him a scrub and worse.

There's a fine line that you must walk in order to not hurt our coaches recruiting.

I'm hardly PG, you know that. But I won't ever stand around and watch people bash a new recruit. I don't memorize what every single poster says, and I don't know what your words exactly were, but when you jump out asking people to eat their crow on how bad this kid was, it makes you suspect.

Why the frick would LSU offer a guy of his caliber that early in the process?

this is the big question mark

it's one of those risks you take by putting so much stock into camp workouts

sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't

True, but in Bates' case I dont think he EVER had a true offer.

well if we're just talking about what he's said, LSU did that themselves

bashing recruits themselves, i can see

but saying he's not good or isn't LSU-caliber isn't really that bad or over any line.

he may not have

our coaches are big on the conditional offers to some kids

I'm talking about back when he committed. There were some real ugly comments.

i don't think i was around, and i'm sure there were

people freaking out over silly jokes from last week, like how he's a good looking kid who will slay girls, etc isn't that bad. some people FLIPPED out over it, however.

admittedly I think I started that crap. There were comments that he was going to ULL to follow his gf. All I said was he was a good looking athlete and he would fine without her if he chose so, then it ran from there. Im a 50 yr old married father, I think Im able to call a young man good looking or handsome as a matter of fact, and not wanting to personally harness his manhood.

My questions are: Is he good enough to play here and is this the end of his recruitment with LSU?
