LSU has to do what is in its best interest. If a kid commits elsewhere, LSU has to decide where its efforts are best placed. If they decide that they are best placed in chasing an equal talent that was not yet committed vs. trying to flip the kid who just committed elsewhere, that makes sense.

And, once that decision is made, who knows what changes. LSU may actually make up so much ground with the 2nd player that they don't want to give that up to go back to their original first target...especially when the original target is having "his camp" reach out.

You are just way too emotionally involved.

I hope my comment didn't appear as "hate for the kid". That was not my intention whatsoever. I want both Hootie AND JA in this class, but if the staff did indeed cool on him and went another direction, he and his mom shouldn't have played into Nick Satan's hands. They certainly shouldn't have publicly insulted the LSU staff-intentional or not. I'm just thankful we had a plan B this time. I sure as heck didn't want to go through another Landon Collins fiasco this year. After that shite can you blame the staff for moving on? The bottom line is WE NEED A QUALITY SAFETY that is not going to waiver at the last second of the recruiting season. The staff can't afford even the remote possibility of being played again.

It's like having an equally hot girl witness you get rejected in a bar, then you get a sympathy frick from the her.

The initial rejection sucks. But when you paste the second girls eyes shut, it don't seem so bad anymore.

Upvoted you Laman1978. That's the "risk" I mentioned; the "best business decision" that LSU might be making here. You just said it better.

LSU OFFERED HIM FIRST AND RECRUITED HIM FOR 2 YEARS. HE COMMITTED TO BAMA. HIS MOM INSULTED THE STAFF. It is not like they just went straight out of state. If LSU has moved on, the Hootie camp brought it on themselves. You can't put this one on the staff, and this is coming from a guy that isn't exactly a Miles fan.

this hate for the kid

This is where I REALLY lose respect for you. I certainly don't "hate" him. When he picked Bama, I said..."oh well...Next". And that's EXACTLY what LSU did (to their credit).

It's not an indictment of the kid or his character. It's just an acknowledgement that REALITY still applies to Hootie Jones and you and me and everybody else. It's not so much that he burned his bridges (with all the negativity that implies) as it is that he FORCED LSU to go ahead with Plan B (which most here think is a great option). And now that they are honor-bound to Plan B, they damn well better stick to it, or really take a serious integrity-hit.

He can't REJECT THE SPOT and then DEMAND THE SPOT.
That's not how the world works.
You NEVER open that door if you want something. He did. So now he gets to wait and see how it plays out or be proactive and go with another option. Either way he gets to play SEC football, get a free education and hopefully play in the league. This isn't exactly a human rights violation. I mean he WINS no matter what happens, right?

No I just know what this will do for 2-3 years minimum. All of the kids are very close. I want all of those kids at LSU.

Frank,

Just Re-recruit the young man. If he wants in, let him in.

I understand where you're coming from. But so did LSU (and it's fans).

Like the kid from AR that committed to Bama (was talking with LF)... he doesn't understand why he "can't represent AR from Bama". Very few people see the world around them the same way. This kid damn sure doesn't.

I want the staff to accept a commitment from Hootie IF Jamal Adams is ok with it. There is no way in hell I want to lose him now. I want both of them, but we better at least get one of them.

JJ27 you telling us not to get mad at losing in state 5 stars? It's not like we didn't do everything up to his commitment to Bama. If he wasn't 100% sure when he pledged to them he truly should have waited. Now because we've " hand forced" moved on to Adams and Hootie now has a change of heart we supposed to drop this kid to go back to him? That would look really bad on our part. I wish we could have both come because they are different safeties. I don't ever post in these threads, but i will say I like your input a lot more than others.

why even commit then through a whole ceremony, with press coverage, etc.? would you agree the whole process on hootie's end was handled poorly if undecided and torn?

I think that's the kicker. Or wrench in the works... or whatever you want to call it.

ONLY two reasons CLM & CFW are tentative with Hootie, and they may be intertwined:
1. It affects other recruits, specifically Adams
2. LSU thinks he may lead them on, or someone uses the situation to lead them on (second more plausible)

What I doubt seriously is part of it is any vindictiveness towards Hootie or his Mom over verbiage. This is a business decision for Staff, and it ain't their first time dealing with this type situation.

If we had another player equally as talented to give that scholarship to, I would tell him no. I don't think we are in the hunt with any other 5 star OTs though, so I would take him.

The difference in the Cam situation and the Hootie situation is we have other safeties that want to come here.

He pushed it back like 5 times. He obviously wasn't ready. If his spot is gone, it's gone. At least let the kid know something. It's been 4 days and nothing.
