One player out of high school can not make or break a team.
The only exception to this might be at the QB position but there is literally no way to tell if a high school QB will or will not be that dynamic of a college QB.

yes but, these elite players that include LSU in their final 3 don't come around too often. Other really good players do, but not Elite players. So we have to at least put up the money on a few of these guys and not just rollover and let Saban continue to win. Until that happens this will continue to happen every fukin year.

Remember how good Stingley was coming in? Better than Ricks I think. Did he really make that big of an impact on our 2019 team? Was toasted in the Bama game twice for TDS. He didn’t play much after his freshman year, and he became a distraction. If Ricks wants Bama, have at it! If he loves LSU, welcome to Tigerland. Prima Donnas scare me.

As I remembered it, it was an LSU/Bama battle for Hootie. Hootie then committed to Bama. LSU then went after Jamal. Hootie then tried to get back in the good graces of LSU but Les didn't fall for the trick.
That's how I remembered the saga. I think Jamal was leaning towards Ole Miss at the time. And Les swooped in and took him away.

Well considering he was a 1st Team All American, I think he made an immediate impact. I mean he only was named an All American by USA Today, AP, Sporting News, Sports Illustrated, ESPN and finally The American Football Coaches Association.

Jamal wasn't part of the original 5. It was Hootie Jones that was replaced by Jamal. Hootie tried to get back in but was told to take a hike and LSU signed Jamal instead.
