This means the coaching staff is doing a great job creating relationships with recruits and selling LSU.

But in the final hour LSU can’t drop bags like Texas, Ohio State, and Oregon.
We have top 10 NIL but not top 5.

Hopefully the salary cap implemented this summer changes things.

Texas offered 700k literally 2 days ago for Phillips from what I have heard. LSU did not like how he was all in and then was so late in the game switched his mind.

Seems like LSU will really go hard in the transfer portal

LSU had an NIL deal in place just not as much money up front that some of these boosters are offering.

Do you know what we were offering?

Just trying to understand how this works. They are offering similar NIL but basically had a bigger signing bonus?

There's no such thing as an elite recruiter anymore, the only thing that matters now is having an elite bagman.

How do you cap NIL?

I do not know how much specifically LSU was offering, but I do know Texas is in the 700k range with increased “opportunities” for staying 2-3 years.

Texas increased there money up front immediately and that’s why he went there

That’s what I was wondering. The simple answer is that you can’t

You can, but it requires a CBA with players.

How the hell would that work? It's an ever changing group.

Just like every other sport, you would have to form a union that represents all players.

In other words it will never happen

I don’t even care anymore. You can’t trust anything in college football now. The purity of the sport is completely gone. I feel like my interest is going away with it.

It will require more than that. Leaving the NCAA and football programs separating from the schools. This eliminates any Title IX issues. Then license the naming rights, logos, colors, etc. and lease the stadiums for a heafty sum. That pays the schools their due, just through a different mechanism.

THEN you create a league with a players union and a CBA. The players won’t have a choice but to cooperate. At this point, collectives and pay for play outside of the agreed upon salary structure and contract lengths in the CBA is not only against the rules, it’s a federal fraud case. This ends pay for play outside of a salary cap and the portal is restricted by a sliding pay for minimum years contract.

The real intention of NIL just turns in endorsement deals, but that is just like what we see in the pros. Individuals will be able to sign NIL deals with individual players, but the days of groups buying players will be over because of the legal ramifications.

Tampering, the portal, dropping bags- all of that goes away in this system. It sucks that college football would become a feeder pro league, but it’s the only real path back to true stability for the sport at this point. The big schools may not like it, but there’s a lot more of the other P2 and P4 schools who will overrule them to give themselves a better shot going forward.

This kid is from Texas, and was originally committed to Texas before flipping to LSU. Texas is 11-1, playing in the SEC championship, and has an elite defense. Saying that Texas has to money whip every kid to come to Texas is a bunch of sour grapes nonsense.

The purity has been long gone. Bama, Ohio State and others including LSU have been anything but pure. However, I agree w/you that it is even more of a stinking cesspool now
