Text messages and phone calls are allowed. It is typical for a coach to text and call a recruit daily.

His comment was that he has not had a lot of conversations with the lsu staff. Which makes total sense as they are all new. Compare how many conversations he has had with a&m current coaches over the past 2 years compared to lsus dc who was named 2 days ago. Sometimes may read too much into what guys say.

Well, if he’s lying then they are contacting him.
Another option is that this entire scenario has been misconstrued, due to an inaccurate quote (perhaps purposely).

I think it is misconstrued due to not understanding the quote. LSU has a complete new defensive staff and hc. It makes perfect sense he hasn’t had the same amount of conversations as other staffs who have been around.

Maybe..just MAYBE Coach Kelly knows a lil something about recruting and evaluating players? Just because this kid is a 5 Star don't mean he will fit the culture Kelly is trying to implement. Last I checked football is a team sport, and maybe this kid doesn't fit. Has anyone took a look at the current roster? Maybe those guys just need good coaching to develop. All this crying about losing players and players signing with other schools don't bother me one bit. I think LSU FINALLY has a Coach that can take average players and make them good players and dare I say...GREAT!! You don't need a million 5 Stars to have a good team. I'm gonna trust the process!

Exactly. If we genuinely aren't in talks with him he has given the coaches reason to not talk to him. Otherwise, he's playing possum. The transfer portal has made some of these situations not as big of a deal.

Look guys I don’t like it either but y’all have to at least admit that this doesn’t look great. If we win next year and sign 30 studs then frick it, who cares. But right now you’re all gasping at straws and you’re mad at me for being the boogeyman of truth.

Ok but why though? What do you think they’re lieing for? You think they give a frick about fans feelings? You think those Texas kids care if they piss off LSU?
Why would a school ask a recruit to do it?
- To throw the competition off
- they paid for the service
- recruiting is often about momentum, that assists in keeping it
- ripple effect over other recruits (and future years too)
- Just because reputation matters. So a school ask a recruit to say such to simple cast shade. It wipes off as well as grease and not water sometimes.
There's always a tell btw (when you combine two things):
1. Player has open invite for visit, doesn't visit but claims no contact or poor contact.
2. Nothing coming from the school, only the recruit. That's because IF he signed, the school can mention him by name- and they will. If he hasn't signed, it will all come from the recruit or "camp" and that's because he hasn't really signed.
You put those two together, you can assume it's games and not real. It's still an assumption, but history says it is a good assumption. One of those alone and you are still guessing.

He said low contact, not no contact.
Baker was the main recruiter for Perkins and he was let go a couple weeks ago. The guy that will be coaching the LB and acting DC is still with the Chiefs. If Perkins is really interested in LSU, then he'll wait and get to know House and whoever else is taking over Texas recruiting for LSU. aTm has the advantage of not having a full coaching turnover, so Jimbo and whoever else can still maintain contact. We don't have that luxury at the moment.

What truth? You are only believing his side and acting like you are smarter than all of us. Harold Perkins isn't going to make or break LSU football. You are being over dramatic about the situation. His main recruiter is no longer at LSU. His next coach is still in the NFL. Sorry that these coaches aren't working on your time line enough to satisfy you.

Could be on them would be Kelly, Frank Wilson so I get it. Especially with Denver. But there’s still time with Perkins. I wish we had the full press on him.
I never once said Harold Perkins would make or break LSU. I just said it was disappointing that we’re not recruiting him harder. I would think with our guys signed that I would hope that we could make Jacoby Matthews and Harold Perkins our primary to closeout.

Said it several times- if we win next year and land a stellar class next year then none of this matters. Maybe Tolan is an all American and it’s all good.
But personally I would rather us do everything possible for Perkins.
