Dakorien Moore, Meadows, Lockett, Ffrench
All four of these guys went to the highest bidder.

Regardless, Hankton's recruiting has not been great. His coaching ability, however, has been. Nabers, Thomas, Lacy, and Anderson have all taken huge leaps since he's been here.

What did Underwood get? Ok let’s say 3 times then, $100,000 to $300,000 for same job - I’m gone.

I agree. Recruiting cycle…. He got owned.

Huh? You mean the FIRST HALF of the recruiting cycle. The first transfer portal starts Dec 9 and runs through Dec 28. Your post is way, way premature. LSU the last couple of years got Daniels and Anderson as good WRers from the portal. I would bet you that LSU gets a very good starting caliber WRer from the portal this recruiting class.

Receivers coming out HS take time to be effective and develop so why pay them a ton of money? I don’t think we missed as bad as the critical thinkers are.
This year’s group was balanced and effective even to some of their receiving letdowns at times. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a Biletnikoff this year but those aren’t an every year thing anyway. We are WRU and that hasn’t changed.

Think about how far Lacy has developed from ULL to being WR1. It sure seems like Hankton came coaches em up.

What seems to be well known is that LSU was offering in the neighborhood of $6 million for Bryce Underwood for 3 years...Michigan went over $10 million. BTW, the Michigan figure has been confirmed by Underwood himself who referenced that amount in one of his tweets. If I remember correctly, he claimed $10.5 million.

Fk those guys. Who was the last highly recruited “5 star” that was a 1st round pick? How often does that pan out?

So for 4.5 million more over 3 years you would stay at your present job instead of take the raise and do the same amount of work? That’s if your numbers are even correct. LOL

You think we had a strong receiving corp that opponents feared?

I may be incorrect but I remember Georgia fans saying that they weren’t sad to see him go. I think we could probably do better than him. Don’t know who’s out there though

You mean the guy that just had two WRs go first round last year? The guy that got almost 800 yards and 5 TDs out of Aaron Anderson. Who took Kyren Lacy who was not a WR 1 and got almost 900 yards and 9 TDs. Not his fault CJ Daniels and Hilton were hurt all year and Parker got hurt. He still got almost 500 yards from CJ and hopefully Hilton can build off his OK game and stay out the training room next year.
He has done a good job

I believe that had to do more with Aaron deciding he wanted more than from coaching.

Not throwing shade on Hankton because the players genuinely seem to love the guy.

Has Lacy made the progression he should have from last year? Sampson? Daniels? How bout Hilton?

Not one of them has caught a college pass. Francis may be the steal of the signing class. You have no idea. Dude had two first round picks last year. He's the least of our problems.

I think Underwood is an anomaly, because a billionaire and a multimillionaire got involved for shits and giggles. Probably not repeatable.

They others may have been paid above market, but I doubt it was much more.

Look I'm all for getting guys that want to be here, and shitting on guys that took a bag from not LSU, but the 2024 NFL draft had 9 first round picks that were five stars.

The recruiting rankings aren't perfect, but the data shows that if you're a five star, you are more likely to be a first round pick. The last LSU 5 star to be a first round pick was Derek Stingley. The class before that had Chase and Marshall. Chaisson and Delpit the class before that. Fulton the year before that. I understand a couple of those guys were high seconds, but point remains the same. Campbell will be this year, and Perkins, without injury, likely would've been as well.
