quote:yeah luckily we had a good haul last year and transfer portal always helps, but you typically want at least 2 of each Dlineman position each class.
We have 16, DT and DE’s on the roster as for now, only 1 is a Sr. 7 are Freshmen and 2 are Sophomores.
Edit: in a perfect world^

If we get McKinley & Simmons it changes the whole trajectory of this class, 12 4*s and those 2 5*s plus high 4* Mack, we are moving into Top 5, I just believe the 3rd DL coach in 2 years hurts in building a relationship for the 24s. No excuses for 25 class DL, DE however
I’m just nervous about missing out on McKinley because you go back to back years without recruiting much at DT which is worrisome. (Not counting transfer portal).

He’s a guy texas can’t afford to lose so it’s going to be very tough. Not that they need him but it’s the texas is back optics they need to repair. They’ll pay any amount to put him in burnt orange
Everything about this post is correct except for this part. We have a massive need for an elite edge rusher. The $$$ is there for Simmons. I'll be very surprised if he doesnt choose Texas.

Jamar Cain is now with the Denver Bronco’s, he the Pass-Rush Specialist. That’s his title. You hire good coaches, there’s always a chance you are going to lose them. If you lose them to the NFL, you are doing something right.
Much of the same with players going into the NFL.
Cain was a great hire. You can't ask for better. Then he goes and hires someone who usce wanted to get rid of.

I wonder how quickly I’d get banned posting that on a Texas board

What Texas or any other team can or can't afford to lose is irrelevant. Simmons first priority should be on who puts him in the best position to be drafted earliest.
There still hasnt been any NIL deal in its history that is more lucrative than that 1st round draft pick contract money.
Texas' situation over the next 4 years compared to LSU's could go from being inconsistent, with a little positive momentum, to complete shitshow with the entire coaching staff being replaced.
LSU and Brian Kelly on the other hand is trending toward national power, with no conceivable scenario that would lead to the firing of the coaching staff (aside from some kind of crazy scandal) and the upheaval that comes with that.
Going to LSU is the smarter play on his part. It has both the higher ceiling and lower floor when it comes to fulfilling his potential and achieving his goals.
Watching his recruitment unfold, I feel like if Texas was the pick, he would have committed to them already. The longer it goes, the better it is for LSU.
When high profile kids leave the state, they almost always have to play it a certain way, or else deal with people's frustration and disappointment every day until its time to go off to college.

Send me the link where USCe wanted to get rid of the DL coach we pulled. Don't link me to message board fanboys..

That's true but some kids don't look at it that way.
They look at it like I'm going to be in college a minimum 3 years I need to get as much as I can while Im here.
3 years to a lot of kids who never had much money is a big deal.

No he wasn't. He got Howard because he knew his Dad
Ill give him credit for Womack
Then he lost his DT and didn't have any back up plan
He didn't cast a wide net for DT and was way too picky on measurables
Dropped the ball on Nigel Smith and the guy from Houston that just committed to Georgia - both liked LSU

That is certainly true about a lot of players. 5 star top 5 player in the country types are absolutely more concerned with maximizing their own potential and being put in the best possible position to be drafted.
You have a lot of respected college football pundits that are actually saying that kids that go to NFL factories like Georgia, OSU, Bama and LSU actually take less money to go to those respective schools.
