The problem was... and I'm only going to say this once and I'm not going to dive into it deeper because I got myself in some trouble with it last time... He and his family had agreed with both sides, and even right up til signing day, was tell6the staff he was coming. Some people (me) we're stupid enough to take them for their word.

Not only was Sopsher already committed to the Tide when he chose not to attend the LSU-UGA game, he was never going to flip, because he had already agreed to a deal.

Maybe so. Doesn't bode well for his intelligence to say, multiple times, he was going to a school where he could play with his brother. He continued to say this up until not long before he made his public announcement. Maybe he just isn't very smart and didn't realize how this would make him look like an idiot. After he shunned LSU v Ga. I thought it was a done deal as well. HUmm, or maybe saban had him playing the, I'm going to where I can play with my brother card to keep LSU from closing the door on him and committing resources elsewhere. Maybe he and his brother were never as close as he'd suggested so many times. One thing is evident with some kids in todays society, integrity and loyalty are fickle creatures that can be purchased by the highest bidder.

No offense Vol, but I told you for six months without wavering that Sophser was Bama. This was based on conversations with someone in his community and reading the tea leaves which have never been more OBVIOUS. It was painful to see so many here take the bait .

And you were totally right. Hindsight is 20/20 on my part. Like I said, I made the mistake of actually believing the kid and his family.

Moving on...

News on Roy and Guillory is great! In the long run... these stud LA players need to realize they will be remembered decades longer in their home state and will be forgotten about playing for an Alabama.

We can win just as much as anyone, but the narrative has to change and that comes with getting to the playoffs. Which requires quality line. So it’s all full circle just need the last few pieces to the puzzle and these two could help major.

LSU needs help from the right people to curve this shite and I believe Woodward will make it happen.

This makes a lot of sense in hindsight. I can't blame anyone for believing an in-state kid and his family. However, the barbershop guy was a pretty good indication of what was going on behind the scenes. I'm just glad that Louisiana still has some kids like Stingley left.

Clean as always thanks for the info. I graduated with Boutte's dad. I'd be very surprised if he flipped. They are LSU through and through.

Vol I appreciate your information, Because I know it comes from someone in the building. sure you get burned sometimes but it’s just because the kids lied to the coaches, you can’t do anything about that. I just wish someone could get in to these kids ears and make them realize that a lot of times all Saban is doing is trying to keep the player away from LSU, Because he knows exactly the player or players is the missing piece to bring LSU back to National Championship picture again. More than the player being the next great player at Alabama. Next thing we have to do is weed out the weasels that’s employed by LSU but is still working for Saban

Boutte is not flipping. Spoke to him Thursday at a camp I helped to put on and he said he will camp at auburn and possibly Baylor. In his own words he Might as well take trips if they willing to pay to bring him there but it don’t mean anything.
He may take a lot of trips but is all LSU. Everyone of his teammates said the same thing that he doesn’t want to play anywhere else.

Hindsight is 20/20.
Many take credit after the fact.
You’ve given solid info and you’re greatly appreciated here.

“Today’s society”?

This has been the immutable way for all human history. In 1535 Richard Rich testified under oath that Thomas More spoke treason to him. He was later given a political position in Ireland.

Maybe Mr. Clean IS the bagman

I don’t think you’d like who that would be for, lol, but that ain’t his style anyway. Clean does more for kids than people realize. Especially the under recruited kids in the state.

But Bama can offer money and titles.

Never heard a single NFL player y’all about his college football titles.

I call 100% bullshite on this “they want titles” garbage.

These elite athletes want one thing and one thing only. The highest NFL draft pick they can get. Now they be under the illusion that playing a Bama versus playing at some other major P5 college will give them a higher draft stock, but that’s all it is, an Illusion. The NFL doesn’t give two shits if you played for Bama or if you played for South Central East Northwestern Community College. If you have the talent and the size, they will draft you high.
