The only thing that helps the pain of this situation is knowing we have Jake Johnson coming in. While he may not be the freak athlete of a Gilbert he is one notch below and not near the amount of baggage will come along with him.

UGA insiders, who are usually money, are saying he’s enrolled at UGA for summer school and joining the team there.

If true, frick that guy for using LSU in the Spring to launch his GPA back up.

ETA:
Or planning to enroll? Idk

How can he enroll in classes at a school he isn't admitted to? He has to transfer there and he doesn't have the GPA to do that. That just makes no sense.

There is no doubt the kid has incredible ability but the drama surrounding this kid simply isn't worth 2 years.

- I would assume his first year scholarship ended after the final semester of 2020 as he was an early enrollee, as athlete scholarships are generally a one year deal
- Assume if there an additional year given by LSU that would lock him in for another year until the end of 2021
- if he transferred in the Spring/Summer he can't compete in the SEC for Fall 2021 without a SEC waiver at this time
- if he enrolled at another school to take classes other than LSU to get gpa up, not sure how that would work... but I would say he would have had to pay his own way
- assuming he has a low gpa he doesn't meet the requirements of a normal transfer to uga from what I can tell
- I am assuming Florida told him he probably wouldn't be eligible to play until the Fall 2022
- Assuming he was not eligible to play at LSU, this is problematic when transferring

Without a SEC waiver or a change he is sitting until Fall 2022, if that happens I would guess he won't be eligible to play anyway until 2022 due not being eligible.

Since it hasn't been announced that he has transferred... I would assume he hasn't transferred which is why he is in the portal.

When you enter the Transfer Portal you are off scholarship... Essentially you have turned it in. However, a player only has to withdraw from the portal to get reinstated as far as that goes (excluding eligibiliy issues). So LSU has to have cap space on the 85 or whatever it is roster but you can bet that if he follows the plan laid out for him by LSU and he wants back in he will get in.

Also, Gilbert never enrolled anywhere else so he does not count as an initial counter again if he comes back in the Fall.

We know LSU gave him a plan or roadmap to return. Who knows if anybody else did too?

Its hard to envision him playing anywhere other than Juco or LSU this Fall, and if eligibility is an issue probably only Juco at this point.

Most likely (imo), LSU had a plan to get him back to eligible for Fall with him sitting out the Spring football and take a big work load during the Spring and Summer. But once he exit stage left there really is no course of action to get his eligible this coming year.

Florida gave him the bad news, so he came back to LSU but it was too late to save this year. Just my guess.

I’ll be honest.
If he returns to LSU, Geaux Arik!
If he enrolls at another SEC school, f*ck him.
If he goes elsewhere, I don’t give a chit.
I’m an LSU fan and care about guys in P&G
BTW before everyone’s All-American left the team we had a losing record. Winning record without him. We’ll be OK

That sounds like bullshite to me. Either he's playing at LSU this year or he's sitting. It's that simple. He doesn't strike me as someone who wants to sit. Play a year then maybe sit his Junior year for the draft...about it.

If I were to guess he spoiled that option by not attending class in the Spring, so now... he probably wouldn't be eligible till Fall of 2022 than he would have to serve a suspension when he returns to eligible status.

My speculation is Juco or 2022, and if its 2022 it will probably be at another school. He came back to speak with Coach O but he probably told him, "well, you kind of shite the bed by leaving in the Spring for 2021".

Not enrolling somewhere doesn't make sense either way, going to class is the only way to be eligible.

I don't know what that means. Sounds like they gave him a plan for him to come back by mid-season or so. For some reason he thought he would magically become eligible at another school and could play immediately.

He clowned himself from what I can tell.

Arik posted “EAt” on his twitter which is lingo for East Athens. Maybe he’s arrived or maybe he’s just f’ing with Georgia fans.

Not sure how you come to that conclusion. He is gone. LSU has not passed on anything or planned on his return in their build for next season...

CEO said they had a good meeting but nothing was decided and that was it. Nobody has heard anything. For that matter nobody has said LSU has even tried to reach him.
