Alabama transfer wide receiver Isaiah Bond has committed to Texas, which he told ESPN is a “business decision” in the wake of Nick Saban’s retirement. Bond led Alabama in receptions last season with 48 and said Saban’s retirement was “100-percent” the reason for his transfer.

Schools like Texas and a&m only getting recruits because of money. Sad what it’s become

yea I miss the old days of schools like SMU loading up with talent and winning a NC because of good old fashioned hard work and ethical recruiting

Curious how much Georgia was in play since Bond is from Buford.

You really believe Texas only gets recruits due to money?

Kids do want to go there but Texas can win a lot of bidding wars.

WR with the most receptions only had 48 receptions. They had less the year before when Bryce Young was there.

They had no one drafted in years and were not getting them before

I went to LSU for undergrad and Texas for grad school, this take is ignorant. LSU will always be my team but Texas has a lot to offer and tons of kids grow up wanting to play there.

Bond is a good player don’t get me wrong, but what warrants a 5 star transfer ranking?

The only thing giving him a 5* transfer ranking is the former A next to his name. 50 receptions and 6-700 yards? This warrants a 5* transfer ranking?

Bond is one of the most average WRs Bama has had in a long time, nowhere near the likes of Jeudy, Waddle, Metchie, Ruggs in the few years prior

When did SMU win a National Championship? Oh yeah, they didn't! Sounds like you are talking about Eric Dickerson and Craig James. Oh, and BTW, SMU ended up with the death penalty and their program suspended for like 2 years. Did SOME money/cars exchange hands in the past? Absolutely! But NOTHING remotely what is going on now and "Pay for play" under the ridiculous disguise of NIL.

Fact is the highest SMU finished EVER was 1982...2nd to Penn State in the final polls. They did finish 3rd nationally back in the 40's one season.

I like CJ Daniels more than Bond. Our portal ranking was never going to be high due to signing majority high school players. We'll go after some DB's and DL in the portal but it won't be double digit guys like the last two years.

As of RIGHT NOW, 37th. Wow, do you people who whine and cry about the Transfer Portal not realize 2 HUGE items
1) LSU is top 10 in HS rankings and far above say an A&M which is high only in TP ratings
2) You know there is another portal window in the spring right? It would be TOTALLY STUPID to do what A&M has done and move all your chips to a lot of mediocre non-P5 players and a few better P5 players and run out of roster room.

Thank God, people like you aren't running the LSU football program. We would be down to Vandy level in no time.
