I think the value projections should be left to the NFL after 3-4 years of college ball. Rank college prospects based on how they project as college players. Just my opinion though.

I mean, sure. I'm just saying how talented I thought he was.

You got a little deeper than I was intending

Hopefully he goes to Maryland. Would like to see them get better.

Sounds like wanting to be near sick grandma my be a bit of a cover:

Following the 62-10 win, Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban explained why.

quote:

“He’s going through some discipline things with me,” Saban said. “If he does what he’s supposed to do -- I’m not going to tell you what. But whether it’s academic, which that has something to do with it, and being responsible and accountable to do what he’s supposed to do like every other player on our team. So, we want to get him right, we want to help him, we want to help him do the right things. But he’s got to make those choices and decisions, too.”

Nothing against you. I just remember some 247 guys giving this rationale for ranking Alfano over Stingley and thinking that it seemed ridiculous at the time. In hindsight, it seems even more ridiculous considering how both guys have panned out early on.

#5 overall recruit and he doesn't show up on the 3-deep depth chart and Grandma is on "life support". I could understand why he'd leave the team temporarily but this doesn't explain entering the transfer portal. Unless I'm mistaken, he wouldn't be able to enroll at another school and join another program until January.

Some gumps are now equating this with "character issues."

Imo, the adjustment to be made is to quit signing kids with deep-seated character issues -- leave them behind.

Wow.

Same kid who went to three different high schools. Maybe this is what he does.

Well apparently those discipline problems stemmed from missing mandatory team activities and school. Supposedly he was missing a bunch of stuff because of his family issues, but who really knows

From reading what Saban said, there seems to be more to the story than him just wanting to go back home to be closer to his grandmother.

Yeah, he's home sick alright. Home sick for being recruited.

A lot of these kids don't want to play football. They just want attention.

It's time to start hammering other schools for tampering with Alabama's players. No way this kid, or Anoma had no contact with other schools after signing.

Exactly, this isn't some good kid trying to head home and see grandma off.

It's a troubled kid who has been an issue all through high school and the day he stepped foot on Alabama's campus. Saban will play you and put up with a lot of shite so if he sits you because you're not doing the extremely basic right things you know it's REALLY bad.

The grandma excuse is purely transfer portal I want to be eligible immediately" garbage so he doesnt have to sit out all next year.

Yeah. Don't be surprised (if he transfers) when he signs with Clemson, or Georgia, or some other school not all that close to NJ.

It will be like the current Alabama linebacker to begged for a release after signing with Washington so he could be "closer to home (Nevada)" only to sign with Alabama a few days/weeks after Washington release him.

I think Sting is a generational talent and won't argue his merits for being #1, but an unblockable DE is second only to a good QB as the most valuable asset in football.

Is Alfano starting right now as a freshmen and dominating?

He's been in the doghouse since day 1 and he wasn't going to play. Very bad attitude and doesnt listen to anything the coaches tell him.

That being said, hard to disagree behind QB a dominant DLine/pass rusher is the most important thing out there. CB is certainly high up there and he wasn't trying to downplay Stingley at all as he's a gigantic asset to us. If Alfano gets his head on straight he dominated everyone which is why he was the #1 player, he can be a force.

Heck I never even really thought a NT could change a game so much until guys like Suh and Quinnen Williams came along.

He's not in the portal yet, so let's not get ahead of ourselves. Knowing Saban, there's always a little more room in the shoe box!
