Not trying to tamp down the excitement of Jimbo getting the axe, but before we get too excited, remember there’s a lot of factors recruits are going to weigh before making any new decisions…. So let’s not expect a ton of activity just yet.

Kids are going to want to see what happens with aTm position coaches, who’s the new head coach, what happens on our side with Matt House and our position coaches, etc.

Expect us to keep pushing on key targets that have been discussed time and again on this board and get a few flips.

Trust in the staff and hope for a strong finish to this ‘24 class. Geaux Tigers.

May be in the minority but I’m not a fan of the Jimbo firing. He was just about to crumble and the recruiting class was about to fall through. I think this gives them new life but what do I know.

Yep. I was about to start a topic saying I wasn't excited about the firing.

I would have much rathered them give him another year or two. Ripping the bandaid off now was probably the most competent decision they could have made.

Agreed. There’s good and bad to it. A lot of make or break decisions coming up for the Aggie Admin. If aTm FUBAR’s another hire, it could be a free for all and I don’t see how their AD keeps his job down the road.

Name a slam dunk hire out there.

There isn’t one.

This is all true, however the main factor in all of this is stability. When a head coach is fired recruiting takes a hit, due to the unknown. If A&M is forking out $76million, then you won’t see a contract like Jimbo again.

Good post. The real thing that needs to be understood, we aren't the only school these kids will be talking to. It seems some expect us to just take who we want. We haven't even locked up the one we were "guaranteed" to get(Miller) yet expect to ravage their class. If it was initially about NIL with many of the kids, wheres the money coming from all of a sudden? Have fundraising efforts been going exceptionally well? Hope for Reliford. Anyone else is gravy considering they'd likely just be more wrs. The Les Miles recruiting strategy.

True, the sting is real even with A&M money guys. I see a 5 year deal for $8m per year with just 3 years guaranteed ($24m). If 5 years are made and the Powers are happy with the coach, he gets a clause to automatically extend to $500,000 per annum for years 6-9, so whoever that coach is, will be making $10m by year 7. Or, they just do another contract at year 5 for $10m per year for 7 years, this time 4 or 5 years guaranteed.

Give House 4 or 5 A$M defensive guys and I bet we would see a much better defense. Sometimes it's impossible to make lemonade out of lemons. House doesn't have much to work with plus the loss of Brooks and whatever issues with the other DB's.

kids will leave. They will leave the team and the recruiting class. Happens every time, happened to LSU. We had kids that made excuses that they left because Miles or Ed O were gone.

Honestly the way I see it Aggies firing Jimbo is bad for us in every way possible. They will likely keep all their recruits. They could actually hire a good coach. If players were gonna recommit it was cuz Jimbo sucks.

You’re right it would’ve help us to still be the coach, at least til they played us. A win by Us would’ve made a big difference in recruiting with him on the sideline.
This is a smart move it puts the commits on hold from flipping to see who they hire or don’t hire before early signing.

McKinley much more likely to flip to Texas, but Reliford is the real flip candidate.

Mathews and Bussey are very possible. Word is that players are already reaching out.
