Texas buddy just told me. Told him I bet they wish they had Chaisson
quote:Might as well kick off the list; just off the top of my head. Curious where it ends up; I'm assuming we remember the one's that flipped from us and flopped rather than the opposite or the one's that did just fine (it's human nature).
It seems like more often than not kids that spurn us last minute like Fowler REALLY end up not working out
Flop/Struggled:
Toshirio Davis
Tony Brown (as compared to stars and expectations)
Gerald Willis
Fowler
Kiel
*dis-honorable mention(s): Hootie
Did just fine:
Landon Collins (not a flip, but last minute decision)
Reuben Foster (not LSU, but a double-flip with AU/Bama who did just fine)
*dis-honorable mention(s): Cam Robinson (neither flip or last-minute);
TBD:
Felipe Franks
Does Speedy belong anywhere here? I say no. Not a flip, he was never "LSU's to lose" in recruiting at same time while he started for a year with very good results in the end he was off team. He either belongs on every list, or none.

He weighed in at 6'2" 260 lbs at Texas's spring game. Id tell him to lose 15 pounds and come play backup ILB here at LSU.

You missed a bunch that didn't work out including the one that shall not he named that wore orange and white before wearing permanent orange

But you have Landon Collins, Willis, and brown. None flipped.
Pat White flipped

Almost all the guys you listed didn't flip from LSU... you're off point.

How could you make a "flip" list of those who flopped and not name Janzen Jackson?!?!
Posted on 5/23/17 at 8:38 pm to ctiger69
It's spooky how things haven't worked out for a lot of these guys. Fowler, Kiel, Willis, Noil, Brown just to name a few. It's like the curse of the Bambino.

Unreliable, always late and cutting up.

I think Speedy should be on that list since it's widely known that he told his uncle Frank Wilson he was coming to LSU the day before he announced

Yes, and also these comments are always one sided and hypocritical. We rejoice when a commit flips to LSU after pledging to another program. Granted some do it so in less than a classy manner but most just end up where their heart is or whatever influences their decision making.

List not supposed to be comprehensive. Just names that came to mind at the time. But, to forget Jackson is an oversight. It should have been the first name that came to mind.
I'm more interested in the one's that flipped (away or to us, either) that did well frankly. Notice my own "off top of head" list is short; and the one's I came up with weren't even flips. Even more interesting, if the list the board comes up with for successful are mostly to LSU, I find that even more intriguing.
To add to the list:
TBD: Chaisson, Phillips

Saban wanted him as a WR. West Virginia offered him a shot to come in and play QB.

Damn, Texas lost Jordan Elliot, a good DT out of highschool, and another D Lineman too. That's going to set them back on Defense, which already sucked.

some kids you can understand their flip.
Others they just do it due to poor decision making. Anytime I see a kid flip to or from schools 2-3 times the summer before signing day I always cringe a bit. Don't care if he's an LSU signee or not, it doesn't look very good.

For the life of me I can not think of a logical reason to flip more than once. Emotional reasons, yes. Logical, no.

Patrick Peterson flipped from Miami to LSU. That one worked out wonderfully for us.

Fowler played as a freshman.. he's got talent.. I think he wanted Lsu but folded to family pressure.. look at what Aranda has done with Riley and Alexander.. he could have worked wonders with fowler
