Who runs out of eligibility this year? Is there a link to anywhere to find this?

Kelly will really show how good of a recruiter he is if he can convince a couple high profile juniors to stay for 1 more season.

If we can keep our draft eligible D-line here for one more year, the trickle down effect it will have will be massive.

Nobody on defense has to be recruited to stay. Non will get drafted if they leave early.

A playwr like Maason Smith might get drafted just off of potential being a 5 star and all, but it would be a late round pick. No one else on this defense gets drafted this year out of the players with eligibility remaining.

That’s the only guys that will run out of eligibility? Is it possible for guys like Turner to come back for a 6th year Lester?

Only player on that list that will be missed is Jefferson.

Not Daniels??

I suspect we’ll miss Jayden.

Danielle and Jefferson have been great. The others have been hit or miss. They are still Tigers so I appreciate them

So, basically anyone in the 2019 class that redshirted as a freshman and any kid in the 2020 cycle can return, right?

After looking at the 2019 and 2020 classes, the only players still on the team are Emery and Turner from 2019 to go with Tank and Martinez in 2020

Turner
2019-RS
2020-Covid
2021-Fr
2022-So
2023-JR

Looking at Turner, he can come back I believe as a 6th year Senior

Agreed other than Wingo. He could test well if healthy but I’ve heard he’s coming back.

Emery and Turner both could have 1 more year if they choose.

Not so sure on Emery. Academic suspension counts as a year of eligibility. Unless rules have changed very recently, a red-shirt year can not be used on the academic suspension (which costs you a year of eligibility). I believe Emery has exhausted his eligibility.

On the other hand, Turner can return if he chooses.

Kelly will absolutely have to convince Maason and Wingo both to stay. With Wingo's injury, that could push him back to the 4th or 5th.

Had he not been injured and continued his level of play, he could have been a second or 3rd round guy.

Smith, on potential alone would probably be a 4th or 5th round guy as well.

Anyone that has been around for any amount of time however, knows that we have had A LOT of underclassmen declare for the draft too early over the years, get taken in the later rounds and flame out within a few years.

I just hope that with NIL, and the example the Daniels has set this year by coming back is enough to convince these guys that its really in their best interest to stay.

Specifically if Smith and Wingo both stay, that will go a long way towards our defense becoming a strength next year, as opposed to the weakness it was this year.
