I hope he is better than his dad.
It may not be the most moronic sentence ever typed in the history of everything, but it's certainly in the top three.

Your support for your moronic post:
quote:

Not trying to take anything away from Emmitt, but he wasn't the greatest RB of all-time.
What is the point of your post?!?!

You hope EJ Smith is the greatest of all time?

Emmitt Smith was fricking amazing at every level of football. The only high school player my brother ever talked with me about was Smith. He called me the day after he watched him play at Escambia High School. P.S. Smith set a HS career rushing record that lasted for fifteen years.

Smith is in the University of Florida Gator Football Ring of Honor, University of Florida Athletics Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame.

So fricking moronic.

Campbell was nasty. If I had to pick one back he would be the one.Brown while great played against much smaller players.Dickerson was awesome if you could create a crease.

I would take him based his lineage alone and the work ethic he will have.

He doesn't deserve to be either. That dude straight up shite the bed in the Rams game. Had at least 2-3 TD passes that could've easily sealed that game up if it wasn't for noodle arm. Damn the bad PI call. Just 1-2 plays before that if he didn't drive the ball in the turf to Thomas on a dink and dunk pass the game would've been over. Nobody was in the middle of the field to stop him from a TD.

It was kinda fitting he lost that game on an INT. Brees hasn't been clutch for quite some time now in NO. Great QB and definitely a top 10-15 of all time but he's not close to being in the arguments for the best of all time. It's weird it's like at some point the guy just lost his clutch gene. I know he had a lot of 4th quarter comeback wins even recently but it seems like a good 50% of the time he loses those due to his play. He doesn't have Brady's killer instinct.

Brees has lost just about every playoff game in historical fashion since he won the SB. It's almost comical at how bad the Saints lose games in the playoffs. Not all his fault but he's the leader of the team. Beast mode, epic Vernon Davis game/finish, epic Vikings finish, drama in NO with RAMs, etc. Talking about a voodoo curse on that team.

The Lions were never championship caliber and they never had an O-line even close to what the Cowboys had for most of Smith's career. I hate the Cowboys and hated Smith, but he was a bad MF. The first guy never got him down and he never went backwards when tackled. Just because we favor 1 over the other doesn't mean the other guy sucked. Sanders was far more explosive and exciting. Both were extremely durable. I remember saying this when they were both playing, if Barry had been playing for the Cowboys then he would've had 2000 yards damn near every season, so I'd go with him over Emmitt. However, both are probably top 5 all time.

Anyway, this post was about Emmitt JUNIOR

Good point about JR. and for the most part all of your take. Moving on..

If you don't think Emmitt Smith was worth a scholarship, you must be too young to remember LSU trying to stop him.
He also helped Aikman reach the NFL Hall of fame.

More negative yardage plays in history and yet still, based on the pace of his 9 year, he not only would've broken the record before Emmitt(he was only 1 season away) and would still hold it to this day, by a large margin. Emmitt has the touchdowns and rings no doubt. He was also great, a sure hall of famer without question. Still doesn't mean that ,just because he has the yardage record, he's the best of his generation.

The post earlier mention Smith, Montana and Brady is just pointless. No one said any of them weren't great. Just disagreed that Emmitt was the greatest of all time time or even his generation. Also ranking QBs is far different than ranking RBs. QBs are based on rings plus production. RBs not so much.

He'll wind up at some Fla school though, I'm sure.

Emmitt ran behind a massive OLine that was one of the best from that era. He was hard to find behind them, and was usually downhill and off to the races when defenses located him. He was a small RB that could run, but was not as talented as some of the other greats like former Dallas great Dorsett. He was just blessed to run behind that kind of OLine.

Wow! I like this kid and I'm surprised we are just hearing about him. He has a lot of his dad's skills with his shiftiness and ability to be patient and find the hole. I think this kid is going to be a stud at the college level and I think he would look real good in purple and gold!

All things equal (playing with the same O line and QB and against the same defense) if it’s 3rd and 2—I am giving it to Emmitt over Barry. Emmitt is getting that two no matter what. Barry, as great as he was, had the propensity to lose 1-3 trying to make a big play.

That was all coaching and scheme..Let’s not forget that, Barry averaged 5 yards a carry for his CAREER. When there was a coach in Detroit smart enough to give Barry a fullback (an advantage no one talks about for Emmitt), things changed for the better. He didn’t have to dance in the backfield as much, and he was a 2k rusher. I hated when watching Detroit coaches take the guy out at the goal line, bad coaches make bad decisions, Detroit exemplified that in the 1990s.

Wait what? I said that earlier in this thread and some said it didn't happen. Sanders came out because he could not block my grandma. His pass catching skills were average at best, even though he played in a passing run and shoot offense, which by the way was perfect for his skillset. If they would have had a fullback he would not have followed him, because of his running style. How many times did Barry Sanders show up in the big games? I cant think of one time, so he was just a great regular season stat packing YouTube sensation...a highlight reel. Barry Sanders is not the best running back in NFL history, just he best open field runner.

Because of long runs during the regular season...when it counted he lost yards!

Once again, only ONE of those olinemen is in the NFL Hall of Fame and that is Larry Allen, who's first season was in 1994. Emmitt won the rushing title in 1991, 1992, and 1993(after missing the first 2 games with a contract hold out) behind free agents and later round picks.

Mark Stepnowksi and Erik Williams were not late round picks.

Tunei, Stepnowski, Newton and Williams all made pro bowl at some point, as did Ray Donaldson in both 1995 and 1996. Jay Novacek was both an all pro and a 5x pro bowler. Nate Newton was a multiple time all pro. And of course Larry Allen. Man, what a group of bums!!!

Lester, you sure know alot about the Cowboys being from NOLA. Well done my friend! Nate Newton, Mark Tuinei, and John Gesek were all undrafted free agents and 3 of the 5 starters for Emmitt's first 3 rushing titles. Erik Williams was a 3rd rounder and Stepnoski was a 2nd rounder...not exactly a great resume. Donaldson was on the downside of his career and a temporary replacement after Stepnoski left in free agency.

I fricking love this! Talking the NFL when they still played football and not this water down political correct pussy arse shite we have forced on us today!!!

Emmitt was a freakin beast! He wasn't the fastest, but he knew how to position himself that made him hard to hit and had a knack for hitting the smallest of holes and turning them into big gains. He's one of the greatest of all time for sure!
