My guess is, if he can, Valentine will wait for the coaching staff to be decided on and then evaluate what's there.

If it takes too long, and it's looking that way because it's starting to look like these 3-way baseball trades with a player to be named later and a box of balls, he'll pull the trigger somewhere.

Maybe Tolliver was sending Valentine, maybe several in FL, a message:

Kevin Toliver ?@Toliver_Era 4h I'm glad the coaches at LSU are faithful and won't leave for money.

Al Golden tells kids he's gonna show them things they've never seen? Sounds perfect for Penn St.

i get what he's trying to do, but that's unfair on Tolliver's part… Golden is a Penn St. alum… he's state way before now that it's his dream job… the situation played out perfectly for him, and it is what it is… even if the money was equal i think he goes… this isn't about money, it's about opportunity…

now the way he's handling it, yeah… not so good… but to take him to task like this just over some money, well, it shows that Tolliver is a kid and doesn't quite understand the whole thing…

Considering who Les turned down twice I'd say it's a fair comparison.

True. But I like it anyway.

It's recruiting. We have Bama pointing to our recent DB coach changes and one down year in defense saying the place is in shambles.

We have TAMU boosters trying to start rumors of Miles to UT (that failed, never got legs).

ANYTHING that creates the necessary narrative to get us great players on this team is good.

ETA: and what if he was talking about O'Brien bolting for the NFL (like Saban)? IF that were true (and I don't think it is) then your comments would be unfair to Tolliver.

I get that we don't have any DT this cycle, but are we just forgetting that we actually have a ton of studs on DL. Just because they didn't start as freshman over Freak, doesn't mean they are busts.

who said anybody was a bust? a big strong run-stuffing DT is always an area of extreme need. since Brockers left two years ago our interior dline has been long on promise and short on results. the inside push and distruption we had become so used to was spotty at best. the "studs" you talk about are nothing but prospects at this point and until they prove that they can handle 60 mins of SEC football the staff will go after any and all talent for the present and near future. it really is that simple.

was thinking about this earlier... some of that will be on some select HS coaches. There may be some words/butthurt between those two groups. I especially thinking of Coach N Jones and Coach Frank Wilson. And yes, I'm aware this is coach Jones' first year and he's Karr alum... and I think that may be significant.

^ complete hypothetical!

My guess, and just my opinion only, some kids just don't have great character.

Would valentine fall under that category if he committed to us on Nov 17 but was still telling Miami coaches he was committed to them?

Also, when will memphis be back? if not, how long is he banned for?
