This is something that could help us regarding draft picks.

“Total spending will drop significantly in 2020 with a much shorter Draft and a $20,000 limit on bonuses for non-drafted free agents. The MLBPA also agreed to let teams pay players no more than $100,000 up front, meaning they can defer at least $219.9 million, with half that amount being paid on July 1, 2021 and the other half on July 1, 2022.”

From what I can tell, they get to spread the bonus out over time and can’t give more than $100,000 up front. This may encourage players to come back or come to college in general so they can get that big payday up front.

This is all true. But because there are only 5 rounds a pro team is not selecting anyone they haven't already had verbally agree to sign. Anyone drafted this year is going to sign barring some weird stuff with a physical or something.

On a base level you’re right but there’s word that many teams are going to take guys and low ball them so they don’t sign. Some of the clubs are more strapped for cash (or say they are) than you think

I don't see this happening. Any team that is cash strapped will simply be very selective and draft someone they know will sign for the money they will spend...and I doubt there are too many that will cut their budget on draft acquisitions.

it doesn't matter if they are cash strapped, the maximum bonus for draft picks is 100K in 2020.

The MLB committed suicide this year.

No reason they aren't playing. Missed an opportunity of a lifetime.
