Why a kid like this is a take is that even if he can't quite crack your lineup in front of the Top 50 players at DB you bring in every year, you can bet he will hustle his butt off on special teams and down (or block) punts, hammer return men, make big blocks and so on.

A difference maker as a gunner on kicks alone can flip a field twice a game. You can't look at this kid's film and not see that hell do that for you. Well worth a scholarship even if he never cracks the two-deep on defense.

Probably just size. I know Corey likes tall, long armed DBs. Not sure what Busch's criteria is.

The kid's solid academically and is committed to Vandy so you know that's not a problem.

We passed on Amik Robertson (similar player) who has looked great at LA Tech. Kaufman actually looks better.

Well, there has to be some reason why his offer list isn't that good and LSU in their own backyard isn't heavily pursuing him so far. Offer list is probably the best indication of talent though some do fall through the cracks. It's a more reliable way to tell how good a player is than looking at star ratings and his offer list isn't that good.

So, LSU sees something they don't like as does the other major programs. He's not exactly playing at some middle of nowhere school.

Because he's 5'9".

Happened to Amik and Tyrann. They had weak offer lists. LSU got in late on both.

TM7 was offered and committed to LSU before his senior year, LSU wasn’t late on him.

Watched Kaufman’s highlights and he’s a nice little player but he’s no TM7. Y’all gotta stop saying that.

Matt Muscona's Catholic High Bears were his opponent in the State Championship game . I'm gonna shoot Matt a message on "The Huddle" App & see what he thinks . Hes on the air now if you want to listen . Either way , I'll post his response .

Honestly, his high school highlights are better.

I have said there is only one Tyrann. I know that. I don't think this kid is a generational player like Tyrann. But this kid plays the same way. Short and angry and with crazy instincts. Just an absolute playmaker. They are the same height, weight, and speed so the comparison is just easy to make.

Just because people say Joe Burrow looks like Tom Brady, they don't think he's going to be the greatest player to ever play the position in the NFL.

I'm so glad this board is qualified to determine who receives an offer
I guess this will be the one everyone melts over for the next month
If he's good enough there will be more power 5 schools coming for him

This board is for fans to have fun talking about this kind of shite.

And Florida State has offered Kaufman. He is going to Vandy because of the academics.

I like him way more as a Jacoby Stevens/Delpit replacement in run support and blitzing

Ditto. His best highlight is him taking on a blocker, shedding, making the tackle and stripping the RB (maybe a minute 30 into the film). He looks to have good quick twitch and ball skills but would be best close to the line of scrimmage.

Ditto. At the very least he looks like he would definitely contribute a lot to the team. LSU shouldn't miss out unless there's a 5 star safety still out there that could be pulled in.

Kaufman just seems like a high floor guy. He will at worst be quality depth and good STs player. Every program needs guys like that.

You can get depth and ST guys from elite players too when they wait their turn to start.

A lot of the elite guys are elite based on potential as well as production. Kaufman’s measureables limit his potential but his production is clearly there. Kaufman seems to be much more of a sure thing.

Also in today’s transfer climate, players don’t seem to be ok with “waiting there turn”.

I don't know if LSU is still in contact with Avantae Williams but he's the type of guy who could possibly develop into a CB/S role. He can have man coverage ability so they could view a guy like that more versatile since you could argue he fills 2 needs.

I wouldn't mind Kaufman in this class his film is nice.

Williams didn't sign though, wonder if LSU turns the heat up on him. LINK

Williams is a can't miss, but Kaufman is a role player whose game can transcend a position. I wouldn't be mad to see him become a Tiger.

Also, lets not talk about his 11.5 speed, a girl in LA ran that last year haha.

100 meters isn't a short area. Talk about shuttle or 40 time, but that 100 takes away more than it helps if you are arguing for a kids athleticism.
