Sound like a smart young man there...Not too many of the fans, or Brady's players like him either

I wanted DJ to go to LSU like everyone else, but he made an excellent decision going to TX.

It was rumored that Brady NEVER went to watch Carter play. Pierre did a few times, but LSU wasn't interested in Carter. The guy had to much talent to not make a spot for.

I heard they were actually telling DJ and Carter some of the same things during recruitment and they found out about it. They weren't to happy about it.

in 2006 we didn't receive any recruits. ( we should have gotten tweety bird carter & dwight lewis).
in 2007 we signed Garrett Green, & Bo Spencer we should have signed LaceDarius Dunn & Malcolm White
these are the next to recruiting class after the final four team

Here's another fact some people can't deal with: Brady brought in 8 players from only one high school class (2005)in a 3 yr period. That is to go along with no HS players in 2006 and 3 HS players in 2007 with one of those already gone. That type of recruiting was going to eventually hurt us.

I sorata agree. I dont think he ever intended to come to LSU. So I dont think it screwed up LSU's chances with him. But it might have screwed up other schools. Texas took advantage i wont deny that.

Class of 2005 players signed
Marcus Thornton 2009 SEC POY
Tasmin Mitchell All SEC & LSU3rd leading scorer
Chris Johnson starter on SEC champ
Magnum Rolle key backup on Final Four team
Terry Martin 6th man on SEC champ
Class of 2007 players signed
Anthony Randolph top 15 recruit & lottery pick
Bo Spencer starter on SEC champ, # 13 SEC scorer
Why would you possibly believe that type of recruiting would eventually hurt? Even if you are correct those recruits contributed to a Final Four, 2 Sec championship teams, and a team which took the 2009 national champion to the wire in the second round. Would you rather sign the players Baylor signed over the same period.

Carter and Dunn are better than anyone on that list except Thornton, Randolph and Taz.

Impressive list of excepts. Neither Carter or Dunn were in class of 2005.
Sometimes players just want to go elsewhere or the coaches recruit other players that may not turn out as well, yet all we hear is the ons they miss not the ones they hit on. Focus was on D J Augustine in 2006. In 2007 they signed 2 great players, one above average and 2 backups. That is quite impressive.
Carter is having a very good senior year, but his accomplishments are no better than Bo Spencer through their respective junior seasons.

Thornton signed in 2007 with Bo. Don't revise history. Just because he should have signed with the class of 2005 but was ineligible, don't pretend he did.

I didn't. I was responding to this earlier post:

What's killing LSU right now is no 2006 signees and a JUCO and a one-and-done in 2007.
That's unacceptable recruiting, especially coming off a final four.

In 2006 Terry Martin transferred from Texas Tech and was a respectable player, although inconsistent at times. Dameon Mason also transferred from Marquette. For whatever reason his playing style was not as effective in the SEC as in the Big East. Illness and academics ended his Tiger career after 1 ½ seasons.
You can’t just look at the 2007 recruiting in a vacuum. They signed SEC Player of the Year Marcus Thornton and a well regarded JUCO center in Quinton Thornton. While some may see JUCO recruiting as a temporary fix so what? Is it better to go 2-14? I know the argument he is building for the future, etc. and that may all come to pass. But, it is a helluva lot tougher to recruit from 2 SEC wins than say 6 to 8.
They also signed top 15 and future lottery pick Anthony Randolph in 2007. Why criticize that move. Had Tasmin Mitchell been healthy to team with freshman Randolph and mentor him while averaging about 16 to 18 PPG the whole picture would be different.
In 2008 they had signed Jmison Morgan a top 25 recruit and then released his scholarship when requested. He may appear to be a bust, but no one could question the signing at the time if UCLA also wanted him. Maybe it would have turned out different at LSU.
They also lost a commitment from star PG Tommy Mason Griffin.
Perhaps the biggest problem is the recruits signed by the current staff averaged a cumulative 7.8 PPG this season. A top JUCO signee or two may have changed this statistically and in the win column.

Brady didnt like small guards. Tac was 5'11 and built like a RB. Tweety was more like 5'8. Dont buy that BS about him being listed at 5'10 as a senior, he wasnt 5'10. Also Tweety was not a PG in HS and he primarily shot (and made) a ton of threes.
Tweety was also very religious and he liked the Christian aspect of Baylor. Couple that with a young coach and ample playing time and tweety committed to Baylor during his junior year. LSU never stood a chance, but Brady didnt care.
The story around LA HS coaching circles was Brady cornered DJ alone in Lavie's office and basically put him on the spot demanding a commitment. DJ was turned off by Brady and it was pretty much over after that. Katrina and moving to Houston made a nice cover story but LSU was out of the running before that.
DJ was allegedly wanting to go to UNC and he was watching Ty Lawson closely. Once Lawson committed to UNC that opened up the door for DJ to go some place else and Texas was a natural fit.
