FWIW, a friend of mine is a HS coach in BR and said that Derenbecker is a stud. He doesn't often speak highly on players but he definitely said Matt can play.

I've never seen him play, but i'm excited we got him.

Hopefully this will quiet down the idiots concerned about Trent's recruiting ability. With Derenbecker and Jalen Courtney (and Malcolm White) he is on the way to an excellent class for 2010. I expect him to land two more by the early signing date, hopefully Andre Stringer and Ralston Turner.

They could all be 4 stars.

I think TJ is a great coach, but 10 years ago I
was very involved with aau and country day's team was pathetic.

they were everybody's blow out team.
I find it hard to beleave this kid is that good.

did he play any of the 5a teams how did he do?

he's rated 3 stars by rivals, a look at their schd. will show they played very poor teams, except for st Aug..

Again I like our coach and think he's great but this kid is not a strong recruit.

I've seen MD play sports since he was little. He's dominated in everything he's been envolved with. Great kid, and super family.

College coaches pay most attention to how well players do in AAU, not HS games. And apparently MD has been very good in AAU.

On the thread on the Rant about Derenbecker, someone posted their wins from last season, and there were some very strong wins.

Derenbecker is already a top 100 recruit on ESPNU and one of the main writers at Rivals heavily implied that Derenbecker and Markel Brown will both be top 100 players nationally and 4-stars the next time the rankings come out.

Derenbecker probably has the most impressive offer sheet of any player in the state including Galloway.

You've decided this although you've never seen the kid play and because his team was weak TEN FREAKING YEARS AGO. Is that why he has offers from LSU, Bama, Georgetown, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, Stanford with more likely to follow? Did ESPN include him in their top 100 recruits because he's "not a strong recruit"? The logic (or lack of) some of you people use in just unbelievable.

Their team was probably pathetic 10 years ago because they didn't have players like Ludwig and Derenbecker playing for them back then.
