Just watched a 4 part series on St Francis Academy in Baltimore. Same school that Jordan Toles attended. Episode three show a telephone conversation between Coach O and the head coach. It’s one week before signing day and LSU pulled the scholarship. He had been committed for a year and did not take any other visits. Not sure if it’s accurate but it looked bad. Suffice to say, LSU will not get anymore players from that school. The coaches were posted. Clowney ended up signing with Ole Miss. Anyone know what happened and why we pulled the offer?

Just didn't cut it honestly if remember correctly. You hate to see it but there is competition for those 25 spots. It sucks. But both parties can back out from my understanding, and lay was getting burned consistently, make it worse that we didn't get him and lost out on a silent commit. Crazy

Did they show what was said in the conversation? If so what was said?

Looking back we lost our on
1of4 RB evans, Milton, gibbs, Clayton.
1of2 WR Jarret, Burton.
1of2 OT lindberg, Crawford.
1of1 OC van pran..
1of1 DE (real reason we offered I think) braswell.(&toles combo)
1of2 DT burch, Jackson.
1of2 LB flowe.
Those where pretty big name all muddy higher on board then him. Any of those guys would have waltz into the class and I believe coaches were trying hard.
Hope there really is no hard feeling between the coaching staffs. Where you watch the documtary? What it called?

Clowney committed to LSU on 3/23/19, several months after his Jr. season. LSU was still recruiting other higher ranked players. BJ Ojulari was a Tennessee commit who LSU flipped, he committed to LSU on 10/27/19. Phillip Webb took more visits to AU but committed to LSU on NSD 12/18/19. Because Clowney digressed his Sr. season and the coaches felt confident in the verbal commitments from Ojulari & Webb, Clowney was advised to look elsewhere. Recruiting decisions can sometimes backfire (Major Burns - S/CB from Baton Rouge) as the LSU coaches got this one right.

LSU literally signed a player from that school last year.
High school coaches can be pissed and all, but ultimately it’s the kid’s decision. And if a high school head coach wants to keep one of his players from attending LSU, then he’s doing his own players a disservice by not allowing them to explore every option possible.
The coaches will get over it.

For recruits, this happens all the time. LSU isn't the first, nor will they be the last school, to pull a scholarship. Just like recruits changed their minds at the last minute (signing day), coaches do the same. The young man was still able to sign with a top D-1 school in the SEC!! He didn't lose out in anything!!!

That they didn't beat LSU because of Damon Clowney

No it won't be because of that him. I applaud O for making those tough decisions. People questioned how he still had a scholly.
We def made the right decision especially after signing BJ. Dudes a stud.
Just asking what's he going to consider Ole Miss after they beat LSU this season.

Apparently you haven’t watched any of their games. They have the worst defense in the SEC and maybe the country and yes that even includes LSU. Only time will tell but at this point with the gay arse covid shite who’s to say we will even play them.

I don’t think he ever visited after he commited. It was a very quiet recruitment, but I know it wasn’t his choice to part ways. I remember Jarret even calling out LSU for processing him.

In addition to all the things these other posters are saying, I believe there was quite a bit of smoke throughout the entirety of the recruiting cycle—even after clowney had committed—that he had more or less cut off contact with our staff at some point. Add that on top of the fact that his senior year wasnt that great, the fact that he was probably over ranked due to his name to begin with, and the fact that we had better dudes coming in at his position, and it seems as though we likely made the right call. I’m certainly not a fan of pushing dudes out of a class once they’re committed—I think an offer should typically be a real offer—but if the rumors about his deliberate lack of contact with the staff were true, then I don’t feel particularly bad about this one specific instance.

You realize they’ve beaten LSU before correct? Doesn’t mean they’re a top program.

Clowney and Toles were in the same class and we already had Toles committed so they don't really apply to one another. Future kids were the ops point. Don't think it will matter either way. Kids go around their coaches these days moreso than actually using them. Coaches who "bar" certain schools are just guys that think they control things more than they actually do.

Didn't Bama decline a kid that made a commit video at the Eiffel Tower?

They won’t get anymore players but they got Toles a year later.

They were in the same class.
