It will be kinda fun to not know who's gonna win the job, cause there all good. In the past, some of our qbs got the job cuz there was nobody else

It's either Manning or Howard.

LSU QB depth when Arch would potentially be a freshman:

Finley/Johnson - Senior
Nussmeier - Junior
Howard - Sophomore
Manning - Freshman

This gives Nuss 1 to 2 more years to start, followed by Howard for another 1 to 2 more years.

Manning isn't waiting 3+ years to start. If Arch commits to LSU and beats out Howard, then Howard transfers.

There's no scenario where Nuss/Walker/Manning all succeed one another at LSU.

His tone while making this comment did not provide me any confidence. It's still early but I agree, we are not likely to get both QBs.

Cooper said neither Arch nor Walker mind the competition. It means that doesn’t preclude LSU from getting both, but it probably precludes LSU from keeping both. The transfer portal in this situation is our friend. Having the portal in place means Arch can commit and sign with LSU while guaranteeing he starts early somewhere.

Either he wins the starting job at LSU or he transfers and starts somewhere else. Same goes for Walker. Either way, LSU could potentially have both on campus and find out which one is better in their system. That’s a good problem to have.

Peyton and Heath Shuler were in the same recruiting class. Competition won't scare Arch away. Plus, a couple of guys on campus now will likely transfer at some point.

Shuler was a few classes ahead of Peyton. But point taken.

You're right, it was Brandon Stewart from Texas. He left and went to A&M.

First off the title of that article is condescending.

What is LSU, a pariah?

The Manning family can stick it where the sun don't shine.

LSU won a national title and had what is now considered the greatest single season in college football history with a coach that got run out of town and is the worst head coach in Ole Miss history. To have a Manning come to LSU would be like pissing on the ashes that remain.

God bless I hope it happens...

Could you see a Redshirted Fresh Arch going against Clemson in 2024 and 2025 throwing Dabo silly and sending Brett Genitals to the nuthouse

It's nice to have this conversation. The chances are that only 2/4 of Johnson/Nuss/Walker/Arch(or other 2023 qb) play meaningful snaps for LSU. Guys transfer these days if the guy a year ahead of them is the starter. It's happened with LSU in the past but the quality of QB has been significantly lower.

I don’t think it’s realistic to expect Nuss, Howard, and Manning/Holstein to all wait until their 4th year to start. However, you have to recruit this way expecting attrition so you aren’t left with all but one guy in the portal. The best man will win the job and whoever that is should be really good based on who we will have. That’s why I believe the staff will try to stagger redshirts to keep as many as possible. If Johnson is the backup this season, I doubt he redshirts.

What exactly is he supposed to say on a Louisiana based radio show. No we will not let our son go to LSU.

Well, Jamie Howard was on the show the day before he admitted he didn’t really want his son to attend LSU. Why wouldn’t Cooper do the same if he felt that way? It really wouldn’t surprise anyone.

You honestly think Archie is that big of a jackass that he would truly prevent his grandson from going to LSU If he really wanted to? He wants what’s best for his grand kid. I can guarantee a say *5 QB Arch Manning coming out of high school, would be in a way better position to succeed an hour down the road at the latest national championship winner, than Ole Miss. That narrative needs to end, it’s dumb as hell.

The family children did grow up in Louisiana. So far it’s Ole Miss 3 and Tennessee 1, including Archie Manning. As important, Archie’s wife was an Ole Miss Cheerleader.

Now, the grandchildren are the second LA generation. If Cooper allows his son to make up his own mind, then the first Manning could conceivably sign with LSU. Time goes on and on. But Archie is an important Ole Miss alumnus and former player/qb. Cooper and Eli signed with Ole Miss and Peyton signed with Tennessee. Time will tell. Amen

He sounded very impressed with what Ed O has going on today at LSU and how can he not be since he has lived most of his life in New Orleans. I think he would be more than happy to support Arch if LSU ends up being Arch's choice. As he sounds like any supportive father.

I just hope LSU can sustain the high octane offensive production to make LSU more enticing as Arch's inevitable destination.
