Reportedly reached out to Kentucky staff
My guess is he’s either about to be processed or we won’t pay him and he’s looking for NIL

Or he doesn’t want part of the defense or this staff is finally getting off their money and getting much needed help on defense. There are many options.

Have heard that LSU staff has not reached out as frequently as he would like. His playing position still up in their air.
From what I have gathered not NIL related.
I think LSU likely keeps him but you never know.

Honestly, he isn't that good lacks size. Good luck to him.

Stupid - need all the help we can get but I’m not surprised
This D staff is probably sending out resumes instead of recruiting

Not sure at the moment. If I had to bet it would likely be a flip.
Charleston Collins is one to watch.
Obviously Mack, and McKinley are ones but LSU needed good on field results to help their case, but this season has been nothing special thus far.
Collin Simmons still has not cancelled his official visit upcoming in November. But with the way Texas has been looking it would be very hard to have a pitch against them at the moment, plus the NIL factor.
This class hasn’t been overly filled with high ranked prospects, but it has filled some holes, not all but some. Bates and Mcbryde are legit prospects plus Harris, Welch, Stamps, Jackson, Toviano, Hughes, and Yaites are still young guys.
We are starting to stack some DBs again.

How can this be an issue for someone we want in this class?
This is my biggest concern with CBK. He mentioned that he likes to “turn off” football and his job as HC. How much effort does he really put into recruiting?

This is stupid. You can put weight on the kid when he gets to college. Have you watched our defense? Pass rushing is just one of the many things we struggle with. Cobbins can get after the QB.

His length is the issue which translates to weight gaining ability. He's not a traditionally sized edge rusher but the NFL is full of guys his size range rushing the passer. Other problem is that his size says traditional LB but he lacks the ability in space to play there. We can't not take him if it's a choice. There are no available replacements.
As for the Charleston Collins comment above, you're not gonna like his most likely option if he flips. Jimbo and TAM. We are being treated like a 2nd rate program right now. Its sad really.

To be honest this class is very underwhelming. Collins isn’t coming to this shite show so please no need to mention his name again.

Definitely a fair point. This class is not the standard at all.
Yea Collin Simmons is a long shot at this point. Just pointing out we have an official with scheduled for now.

Cobbins is not the type of player that LSU needs. Putting weight on players is not always an answer. John Madden was correct when he said that you can put weight on players, but you cannot increase the size of their frame. Good luck to him wherever he goes.
Posted on 10/2/23 at 8:58 am to bearhc
Who gives a damn about his frame. He's shown the ability to rush the passer at a high level against the best competition in this state. In case you haven't noticed, no one on the current team can even get to the QB. You don't cut ties with a quality player from a program like Destrehan.

Everywhere I look it shows him at 6' 3" & 200 pounds. What am I failing to see? Looks like a pretty good frame to add weight...
Posted on 10/2/23 at 9:15 am to mpwilging
There's nothing wrong with his frame. The experts around here have made up some shite to fit some stupid arse narrative.
ETA: His frame is very similar to a guy from LSU who was just drafted in the 2nd round in BJ Ojulari. I guess we should have turned him away too.
