CLK sets the bar for future recruits...

In his press conference he said the best guys play - period.
He doesn't care how many stars you have.
He doesn't care what your recruiting rank is.
He doesn't care what your NIL payout is.
You want to play? Earn it in practice and in games.
So don't expect to get a big role just because you got a big bag, or because you were a 5-star recruit.
If you have an opportunity to play for LSU you better make it count, no matter who you are. And the effort better be there for the entire season.
I think this is going to change how a particular group of over-entitled ME ME ME kids view coming here.
And I, for one, am ready for it. LFG!

What you see is the difference between a coach and staff that knows exactly what they’re looking for vs a coach and staff that’s trying to chase the players everyone else is wanting. There are a lot of people that know X’s and O’a but only a few that understand exactly what they need to make those X’s and O’s work most efficiently, hence the questionnaire. The mindset, coach-ability, IQ and hard work are things you don’t see on HS tape and the reason some of these can’t miss prospects fail. Underwood is a great example of why the past regime had to go. It wasn’t just Underwood but he’s the icing on the cake because the last staff was going all in on a guy that was going to fail. Multiply that times the oline talent, RB’s and portal defensive guys and you see the difference between this staff and the last.
Kiffin is willing to spend money on the big star guys once he has vetted them. He’s also willing to walk away and use that money to make 2-3 other positions deeper and better. It’s called knowing your job vs doing your job.

Chambliss had also just arrived on campus in the summer. Starting Simmons doesn't mean Chambliss wouldn't have eventually taken over the #1 spot. Simmons going down just sped up the process of him having to take it over.
