LSU signee and middle infielder CJ Weinstein has flipped his commitment from the Tigers to UCLA, he revealed on social media Sunday.

Weinstein attends Orange Lutheran High in California and is the No. 149 player in MLB.com’s draft rankings. He was one of LSU’s two high school signees who played middle infield.

One scout who spoke with The Advocate described Weinstein as a second baseman whose best trait is his ability to put the bat on the ball.

Unless rules change it will be really hard to rely on fr to win the cws

And if a fr is not playing year 1 he’s not waiting to be developed

Thats what Im worried with guys like Martinez, loew, tucker, etc

I’m worried they won’t play enough and will transfer after this season

The confusing part is when they spend that freshman year “developing” then leave when they are in the mix for playing time the next year.

The overwhelming majority of those kids walk into starting spots at other programs.

They don’t come to lsu to sit the bench. If they sit in Y1, lsu will recruit over them in Y2. They are never guaranteed anything. For the most part this works out for both parties.

pitchers are different.their are a ton of opportunities out there for a good pitcher on any team. a position player has to beat someone out thats established or just get lucky and hope the person above him graduates or enters the draft and that his school doesn't land someone at his position from the portal

I guess my confusion comes from giving a kid a starting spot that didn’t produce at the school he’s leaving. I do appreciate your perspective though.
