The overwhelming majority of those kids walk into starting spots at other programs.

They don’t come to lsu to sit the bench. If they sit in Y1, lsu will recruit over them in Y2. They are never guaranteed anything. For the most part this works out for both parties.

pitchers are different.their are a ton of opportunities out there for a good pitcher on any team. a position player has to beat someone out thats established or just get lucky and hope the person above him graduates or enters the draft and that his school doesn't land someone at his position from the portal

I’d just say that it really bit us in the arse this year to the point we had the worst baseball season in most of our lifetimes. It’s pretty hard to have any continuity if you’re constantly turning over damn near the entire roster.

There was really only one transfer who left that would have mattered at all, and he clearly felt slighted to an unreasonable degree. He left the team before we even played in the super regionals, and then talked shite about us a year later.

We were bad this year because of late portal adds, injuries, and bad defense. Go and look at the production of the following list of guys and tell me which ones "bit us in the arse" by not being on the roster this year:

Kucherak has been pretty good, but he wasn't going to start in '25 and we won a title.

Kling had a solid year in the B1G, but needed a change. As did Neal.

Are we better in '26 with Neal? I really don't know. He's not a catcher anymore and wouldn't have started in the OF or at DH with everyone healthy. Could he have helped with injuries? Sure. That's not something he was going to do, so it's kind of a moot point.

Dutton had a solid year at Auburn, but he was at best a Sunday arm on the '25 team. If he starts on Sundays, do we get end of year Chase Shores without allowing him to work out kinks on Sundays early in conference play?

We only lost Josh Stevenson and Jason Bollman the year before. They obviously didn't impact anything.

Yes. This is obvious to anyone that follows the program. They also recruit ready-to-play players in the transfer portal every single year. The young players who do not show promise are generally not told to leave, but LSU’s main objective is “win now”, and they have been using the correct potion.
