Coaches are much better at evaluating talent than the recruiting sites. Additionally, you have a greater sample of evaluators than with the 2 or 3 major recruiting sites. For that reason, I look at who has offered recruits rather than their star rating. Considering OU, Texas, and LSU have evaluated CM, and none have given a solid offer, that leaves me to believe he is not the caliber of back those schools are looking for. Now, maybe its a numbers game for all 3 schools, but for the most part, elite players are always takes and you find room for them. I find it hard to believe that all 3 schools are in such a numbers crunch that none of them will take the kid if he is an elite talent.

I'm not worked up. I didn't mean to come across that way. All of these kids are good, I wouldn't get too worked up over one kid being offered over another.

Can someone explain how the 4th best RB IN THE NATION, a 5 star player, was going to be a numbers victim? Why did it take so long to give this guy an offer?

Richardson is without a doubt better than CM.

You really have no idea who's better. Rivals' rankings aren't necessarily accurate when it comes to skill players. Plus, the fact that both are 5* should lead you to believe that they're both extremely talented.

Jamarcus Russell was the #79 player in 2003. Let's look at some QBs ahead of him:

#78 Kevin McCabe - UVA
#71 Clayton Richard - Michigan
#70 Tommy Grady - OU
#57 Dennis Dixon - Oregon
#32 Robert Lane - Ole Miss
#26 Chris Leak - UF
#5 Kyle Wright - Miami

Only two of these guys amounted to anything (Dixon/Leak).

Just look at last year even at the RB position. Darrell Scott is considered the best RB in the nation by far, yet he isn't even starting at Colorado.

You can have an opinion, but to say Richardson is without a doubt better is untrue and foolish. I hope we go after Michael. He's a great talent who actually wants to be a Tiger.

For those saying his ranking is legit, when was the last 5 star RB from Texas to not get an offer from UT, OU or LSU?

why dont you think his ranking is legit?

FWIW he was ranked the 8th best player in TX before he did a back flip at any camp this year.

from what i understand the coaches feel like they have the same kind of back in Ford that CM would be, there would be no change of pace with him like there would be with TR. they obviously havent been pressing him to commit even if he does have a CO becasue he keeps saying he is about to commit to us. he will be in town this weekend(supposedly)and if something happens i will eat crow but i just dont see him being in this class, although i really want him and sentimore i just dont see it happening. if we got one out of the two i think its sentimore at this point

1) Where did you get this idea that the difference between them is "half a step"?

2) Why wouldn't half a step make a difference? It can make all the difference in the world.

3) Who says CM isn't quick and explosive, too?

ford is listed at 4.49 on scout and i have read CM is like a 4.45, thats pretty close.

ETA: apprently MF was pissed about his combine 40 time, he is supposedly closer to 4.4 flat

For a while, he was a fringe top 100 guy and a four star, which is where he should be.

I don't think he's a legit 5 star because he got it based on a camp performance where he was the best looking back going through drills.

And look at every other 5 star player. Which other ones lack offers from all the regional powers? that's all i'm saying.

Michael looks better on film than Ford and Pratt.

Hes a homerun threat which is somehting we have not had in awhile, Murphy has not lived up to his billing just yet, and I dont think Ford or Pratt provide it either. Ford takes a little bit to get to top speed and Pratt is a bruiser. I hope we give up on TR and get him.

I'm hoping all 2/3 redshirt unless Pratt gets moved elsewhere (FB/LB). We don't lose any RBs this year...

Honestly I dont really care if we get TR or CM. Not sure how you go wrong with either. In my opinion TR is the better if I had to choose a side. But both will bring much to the table. So I would rather TR but will be extremely happy if we land CM.

Michael is legitimately talented and is going to really good wherever he goes.

Richardson is better.

There is just no way to know for sure how they will develop.

Please remember that KW was definitely going to be better than CS and RM and it hasn't really turned out that way.

And yes, all RBs in this class should redshirt.

Michael is legit the only reason he won't get a Texas offer is because we will only take one back C.Whaley. Although I think Whaley will be a DE.You guys will get a real good one if Michael commits.
