That one hurts. He was a perfect guard.

Lane and Co must have told him he wasn't going to start or he's chasing a bag. Seems like he would have a good chance of starting next year, showed some promise this year.

There’s only so much availability of top talent you can expect to find in the portal. Even if he wouldn’t start next season, they really need some guys that have multiple years of eligibility to start learning the system and learning play as a unit. Absolutely they need as much new blood as possible, but starting over completely isn’t the answer either.

THIS. It makes no sense.
I'd bet good money Lane saw something on film and decided he was a pass.
I thought he showed promise but I'm not a cfb coach, so what do I know, I trust the new stafff.

Or maybe the kid wanted to be coached by the guy who recruited him. Some times it doesn't require an overthought think piece on reasoning.
Star gazing is absolutely correct. Sure, lesser star guys create feel good stories as they develop and become great. But the proof is absolutely in the pudding as it relates to the guys with stars panning out and being great.

I don't think you are being fair to the kid. He was trying to play in the SEC as a true freshman OT when he is probably a OG. It is way too early to conclude that he is a bust. I don't think anyone is ready to pencil him in as a starter next year but he could redshirt and learn under (hopefully) better coaching.
In the past few years, high quality OL in the portal were rare. It's not like we can just "start from scratch" go out and get 5 NFL draft picks on the line for next year.

Not true at all. Lane would have 100% recruited over him and got a legit starting caliber tackle. Curne nor any other lineman performed well enough to lock up a spot for 2026
frick off, casual.
Adams is a lock starter. We aren’t going to find 5 SEC quality OL starters in the fricking portal you idiot. That doesn’t happen. We need at least two guys to plug spots.
Spend on a the best LT available and Adams will be a really solid RT. Keep Ory Williams as a backup T if possible.
Throw some money at Curne to play Guard. A little for Echols too, who has the ability and showed flashes even with terrible coaching.
Thomas is absolutely a keeper if we can get him to stay.
Moore is a lock starter if he would consider staying, but most seem to think he’s headed to the draft.

This. People are so fricking ridiculous when looking at this OL. This many 4 and 5 star players are not ALL busts. 1, maybe 2. The statistics gathered over time show that.
When you have this kind of concentration of players badly underachieving their star ratings in a single position group, it’s a OBVIOUS coaching and development problem, not a talent issue.

So isn't Lane stealing players from Ole Miss? Sounds petty as well.

He’s basically saying “pay me”
Can’t flaunt all this NIL money and expect current players to not a want a piece.

well if he thought the coaching he got from Davis served his best interest, then maybe he needs better handlers, or watch some game film from this year. I understand liking someone. I also understand you have to take care of yourself too...surely he understands that LSU couldn't keep Davis with the performance they have had the last few years from the OL.

If he wasn’t rated a “five star” would we be as upset? Dude hasn’t really showed any promise. I know he’s a fr but he hadn’t looked anything like Campbell or jones as fr.

Good to see Jordan Arcement looking out for the players

Agreed Crown. This is a lane that he's going to excel at.

So it appears that the rumbling’s the last 2-3 weeks were Austin Thomas and Frank being disgruntled and moving behind the scenes on our roster
Now, adding this clown, Jordan trying to make a name for himself and athletes first

Ory needs to start at RT. He got better with playing time.
