7’0” center, transfer from Washington

“The 7-footer was one of the first recruiting targets for Coach Mike Hopkins when he got the Washington job and so it’s unfortunate to see him departing before ever making a true contribution on the court. It appeared BPJ would see time as a true freshman after he appeared briefly in 5 of UW’s first 7 games but he suffered a leg injury which sidelined him for several months leading to the decision to redshirt.”

“The physical tools were always there with BPJ as his nearly 7’6 wingspan suggested the potential to be a defensive monster protecting the rim in Hop’s zone defense. On offense BPJ showed the makings of a short hook game to go along with his dunk potential. But in his few minutes on the court BPJ fouled at an astronomical rate and rebounded much worse than someone you’d expect of that size.“

Wade is good at teaching kids how to rebound so maybe some potential there.

“Washington transfer Bryan Penn-Johnson just committed to LSU, he tells @Rivals.

Why’d he pick the Tigers? What role could he fill? Will he push for immediate eligibility?”

Captain...my Captain!! Hopefully the young man can be a contributor.

He was a 4 star according to Rivals and #14 C in his class.

UCLA, Arizona, Cal, etc. offered him out of HS.

I assume Will expects him to gain eligibility right away. Now just got to get Watford to stick around for another year.

And he lands that backup plan to the backup plan. He's a very impressive recruiter.

Wade is relentless on the trail. I appreciate someone who you know is giving 100% max effort at all times. Lets hope this kid can hone his skills and learn to stay in games longer and use his size to be aggressive on the boards. If this kid is half as good as Kavell Bigby Williams I will be happy

It will be a disappointing day for me when Wade moves on.

Couldn't find any Washington highlights on the kid. He doesn't run the floor as well as KBW, but not many do. KBW was so good at rim running. Offensive game is very limited.

Will be interesting to see how he fits in and how many minutes he can earn.

Thought it said he would push for eligibility, like it wasnt done yet.

Anyway, good get. Kid had 5 blocks in 34 mins last year. Thats pretty solid.get us 3-4 blocks in 20 mins of action would be phenomenol with 4-5 rebounds

Anyone know the deeper story of this kid?

49 total minutes played at Washington over two seasons, you should get more than that by default just for being on the roster in non conference play, blowouts, etc. Courtese Cooper played 60 minutes this season alone.

Does CW do that? What do the other coaches do?

Think he redshirted his first year.
He fouled alot, thus decreasing his own minutes
