We’re still under on schollies, so I’m fine with it if CBK does good due diligence and communicates directly with Harris and his family what the expectations are (like we all know he will).

Jimbo runs a dirty program and always has (look at FSU). CBK is not like Jimbo.

I'm really tired of hearing how this kid has character issues. He doesn't have character issues. He's never been arrested. He drove through a parking lot fast and was late getting back to the dorm. Everyone seems to forget that these are 18 year old kids.

Does he have character issues though? Or did he just do a few stupid things?

A violent criminal has character issues, but someone who dabbles in a little weed isn't a suspect character to me right away.

He spoke to a high school football team in Houston ( when he was with the Texans ) …they had just lost a teammate…before the state playoffs…he was inspirational

Who among us didn't do something stupid in our younger years that could have killed someone or ourselves?

Watch Harris be a model player and eventually earn #7.

Saying we should sign him just because he hasn’t committed a horrible crime yet is dumb.

I don’t see the need to take the risk when you’re rebuilding a program culture from the ground up.

Glad you are not the head coach.

I was a collegiate athlete and made really dumb decisions that could have had me be suspended, kicked off team, etc....and I genuinely was/am a good person. Fortunately for me, I did not have cell phones around to capture it. The structure is in place for a kid like this to come in, contribute on/off the field and get himself together for his future. Trust in CBK.

One time in high school me and a few of my teammates smoked a joint a few hours before a scrimmage we were having. I took a nap and played probably as well as I played all year.

1: Denver's really damn good at a position you desperately need reloading at. He comes in and balls out for two years and then gets drafted highly, becoming the next LSU big time DB to bolster the DBU reputation.
that's the starting point, if he's not good enough to make the team better it is a non-starter. But he is, for sure, good enough.
quote:

2: He was a behavior problem at A&M but if Kelly can keep him in line, that only strengthens his claim that the program helps build good men.

3: It'll show a lot of good will to parents and recruits that he's willing to help those who want to be helped and give second chances. Reminds me a lot of the Saban speech on Muhsin Muhammad.
CBK has to approach the "character" thing from two directions...

A) Is it going to cause a problem within the program/team. That's the biggest risk he has to eliminate. That can't happen. If this would happen it doesn't matter how good Harris is, and instead of possibly being a neutral it becomes a negative (because it affects team/other players).

B) Then there's the "normal" character questions and it's implications. How it affects Harris and Harris alone. In this case if Harris doesn't get aligned, he just doesn't get to advance himself/his career. This makes it a neutral because the program would just not get the benefit of Harris' talents without harming the performance of the other players. Only thing the program would lose is a spot on the 32 while gaining nothing, hence pretty much a neutral.

Looks like either 2 folks didn't catch your joke or they don't like Jerry Seinfeld. I thought it was nice.
