Brian Kelly and Co. have reportedly been in touch with Stephen F. Austin defensive tackle Brandon Lane after reopening his recruitment process. On3 Sports' Pete Nakos first reported LSU's interest.

On Sunday, Lane stopped in Baton Rouge for an unofficial visit, according to his Instagram.

He's become a popular name in the Transfer Portal with LSU being the latest program to contact him.

Lane recently backed off of his commitment to Michigan State, and now back on the market, a slew of programs have been in contact with the popular defensive tackle.
For LSU, it's clear they're in need of reinforcements up front and Lane has become another option on the Big Board.

Lane recorded 44 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks in 2023 with Stephen F. Austin as he begins ramping up his recruitment once again.

Along with LSU, several Power Four programs have been in his ear while navigating the recruitment process.

Kelly says he has no intention of getting in a bidding war with Panola JC for Lane, so don’t get hopes up.

I hope we bookmark this and have a stats thread at the end of the year for the DT’s that we offered. I would really love to see what the 7 figure DL did compared to the lower tiered guys.

Lane is entering his second season with the Lumberjacks. In his career with the Lumberjacks Lane has played in seven games accumulating 11 tackles including two solo tackles and nine assists alongside one sack.

Prior to SFA: Lane spent time at South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota. During this time with the Jackrabbits Lane played in three games and had one tackle.

We should do a grand a tackle, two grand for a TFL, and three grand for a sack.

The seven figured DL would’ve been 400k in the December portal. Kudos to them for understanding supply and demand. Glad LSU didn’t spend that much.

I didn’t think that Kia was worth $80,000 but the market said it was, so I had no choice.

If you can't get elite, get elite depth. You can at least keep fresh bodies on the field.

I'm not super duper familiar with him or Suggs, but I would certainly welcome both o the DL if they choose LSU.

According to Billy Embody, LSU doesn’t have much interest.

Or you could just drive your Hyundai and buy a Toyota next year.
