Was good early on, had an injury followed by a coaching change which limited production / playing time. Was someone the coaches jumped on almost immediately when he was in the portal so they must see the potential in him

It looks like he might have gotten passed up on the depth chart. I need to look more into it.
Coach Cain recruited him out of high school so they have a relationship previously.
Swinson's best season came in 2021 when made 24 tackles and was credited with all three career sacks. His role was limited in 2022, with just eight tackles made in 144 total snaps.

Maybe he has a skill set that coaches think they can work with.
A 3rd year guy with only 8 tackles is really low production for a DE.
We need the bodies, though.

I'm thinking he's a depth piece right now more than a starter which is fine. Have to think we still have Jones/Wiggins and you don't want to scare either of them off.
