The drill in reference is the same Dline drill that Coach Ed O has his players do daily. O is a firm believer in fundamental techniques and with good reason. Landon looked a little skirmish doing the drill but it was new to him. I'm sure he will be mastering that drill before the season starts and using the technique to flush out opposing QB's.

The broad jump is a measure of hip explosiveness. Think of any football movement, they all start with the hips. Tackling, blocking, neutralizing a blocker, hell even running. The broad jump doesn’t measure jump height at all

Should have got a gif of some Q-dogs (Shaq's fraternity). They wear that purple and gold!

Like the broad jump. When is that ever going to matter on the defensive line? Or running those little obstacle courses? Is it that complicated to get to the QB?

Bruh. The broad jump demonstrates explosive drive at the point of attack. The "obstacle course" demonstrates and trains agility in the hips along with drilling hand techniques.

That said, the video where he looks bad is clearly a lack of technique for the drill. If you give him a coach to explain it to him and about 5 reps, he'll look infinitely better.

Not sure he was an Aggie ever. One of PGs coaches went to LSU. That may have helped. Texarkana is SEC country usually Arkansas. Not many students from that area go to A&M or UT.

I just don’t get why LSU fans are saying this this kid needs to get bigger. Granted, he will fill out some naturally - but I hope he stays pretty much the same (unless he can add 20 pounds without losing some of his explosiveness and agility).

He is a pass-rushing WDE. Being 6’6” 240 is just about ideal. Granted, he may well grow into a SDE, but having a pass-stud at WDE is incredibly valuable in modern college football.

That was the first time he ever did that drill. They took him to the side and helped him, then he did it MUCH better. OF course, nobody put that video out there.....

In high school he has played DE, LB, & TE.

Freshman year he played DE mostly standing up in a 4-3 defense and broke the school sack record.

Sophomore year PG changed to a 3-4 and had him playing down. He still did well but teams doubled him more before he had a season ending injury.

Junior year went back to 4-3 with him standing and would shift him to LB sometimes to throw off the other team. He broke his own sack record. 111 tackles and 17 sacks

Absolutely no slight to Landon but was not wowed by his film footage. I believe in our coaches that Landon has a great upside and with Moffet (putting on at least 25 lbs of muscle) and being coached up that he will be special. Probably a redshirt year for sure but with the new rule Landon can play in at least 4 games next year without losing a redshirt.
