Agree that Chatman and Davis could possibly be good choices. LSU also has a connection to both, so that could help.

It's a terrible time to be looking for a coach right now. If LSU zeros in on the guy they want, they likely will have to wait, which gives their present schools time to lock them up if the schools get wind of LSU's interest.

That's why I said the LSU connection with each of them would help. I just think it's a really awkward time to try and hire coaches unless you can get it done in a few days.

He resigned at Ruston as the DC to spend more time with his family. And they live in Ruston.

Like the guy with no NC will hire O with the 2019 NC ????

More like BK having a 292-107-2 career record and the winningest active HC vs EO with a 67-47 career record. Oh yeah, LSU took a step down with BK.

I am fairly confident that Kyle wasn't making $1mm+ as the DC at Ruston High!

1. Karl Dunbar, Pittsburgh Steelers
2. Dennis Johnson, Baltimore Ravens
3. Derrick Leblanc, Jacksonville Jaguars
4. Rob Snyder, Nicholls State Colonels

All former Tigers with Pete Jenkins ties

How did this even happen?

Wonder if Kelly has reached out to Mike Elston yet? I think he is also currently in the NFL, but was his DL coach when he was at ND. Google search shows he must have followed JH to chargers.

He played 13 years in the NFL. I am fairly confident he didn’t take the Ruston gig for money, nor can LSU moneywhip him into the DL job.

Money whip? No

Provide a one-percenter salary to someone who’s in his low 40s - Yes

It’s not like Williams is super wealthy, and he’s still young from a career standpoint. I bet he’d take the LSU Dline job in a heartbeat

LSU going to find it tough to find a good DL coach this late in the process. Most are settled in or signed extensions. Plus LSU is not super talented at DT right now with a bunch of incoming freshman that need to be developed. I think this is partially why Bo left. He got tired of both the NIL game and LSU not willingly giving him the talent he wanted at DT.

If anything, this would be the year to stick around with the increase in NIL.

Wouldn't stop him from getting tired of NIL which was very likely at play here. Bo has always been a great recruiter and developer. Don't be shocked to see more college coaches hang it up and just jump to the NFL.

He was the highest paid position coach in NCAA and still made the jump up to the Saints when he has many calls in the past. You don't think something was up with that? It's NIL. He has to recruit 10x harder now just to keep the guys he has on the roster now. It's not worth it.

If you're going to deal with that you should just get paid in the NFL because it's professional now as it is. That way you don't have to deal with the recruiting.

As for LSU, they have a lot of young guys who could potentially be good but we don't really know. It's late in the process, coaches are settled, and it's less attractive to be handed a DT job only for a big DL coach trying to increase his stock. It's not exactly the most attractive DT job right now even with the money. More than likely they want full control over the DL. Might have to consider Peoples who's a great coach anyway. They could've tripled Chatman's salary and he still turned LSU down.
