Player Personnel guy Austin Thomas was ironically similar to these shite show recruitments.
AtM is the perfect place for that clown.

I honestly can't remember one like Evans.
Yall have named some good ones. Roquan smith was kind of low-key weird.
He committed to UCLA on NSD, didn't send in papers. Ends up sending in his papers to UGA I think a few weeks later and the rest is history.

Was Joe McKnight’s recruitment a shitshow? Or did the fans reaction make it seem worse when he went to SC?

Marvin Wilson basically going to FSU because of some chicken wasn't really a shite show but was really fricking frustrating at the time

Janzen Jackson for the way that it ended.

Jackson’s recruitment was relatively quiet.
He was just a flipper nobody saw coming.
Wound up being a positive thing for LSU.

The last few weeks of that cycle, people were saying that Jackson was going to decommit. Slow Flow Pro came on and was basically saying he knew nothing about recruiting but that people he trusted were saying he was gone.
He and Kenny Bell were the two guys people were expecting to decommit. And Barkevious Mingo was the silent commit everyone knew about.
Floyd Raven and Lorenzo Booker has really weird recruitments. People thought Booker was going to USC, then Notre Dame, and he signed across the country at FSU.

This entire Rakim Jarrett one has really got on my nerves
This one moved up my list fast. It reeks of set-up and he never intended to go top LSU. The "My school doesn't allow students to sign in the early signing period" was off the charts retard.

There was way more drama than just a flip with Jackson.

Shea Patterson
Entire Patterson family tried to capitalize on this one
Jobs were being lined up for his bro at schools
Believe he committed here at one point (may have been a silent)
Ends up at Ole Miss
Transfer to Michigan
Brother loses job, bashes Harbaugh, etc.
This one is up there for me. I get that this is “part of the game” for recruiting but it’d be great if it wasn’t. I absolutely LOVE guys like Stingley. Commits, stays committed, no social media games to keep suspense up, quiet signing ceremony that was low profile, and he just put in the work. Funny how most that are shitshows end up being non factors in college and the quiet guys without the games end up great.

I don’t “recall” this, but any list of recruiting stories is incomplete without mentioning that Eric Dickerson drove around a Trans-Am bought for him by a TAMU booster while he was at SMU.
*And yes, I’m aware Dickerson refutes the story, but come on, what’s he going to say?

Chris Steele the CB out of Cali was a wild one. Openly committed to UCLA at the beginning. Ends up decommitting. Allegedly commits silently to like 3-4 different schools throughout recruitment. Then he openly commits to USC and yet again decommits. Ends up choosing to sign with UF and enrolls. A few months after enrolling he enters the transfer portal. Steele asked to have his rooming situation changed to get away from his roommate. UF didn’t listen to Steele’s complaints so he transfers to USC

Lache Seastrunk?
wow, I forgot about that kid. Had to look up what he's done after Baylor and saw this on his wiki.
quote:
Before the end of the 2012 season, Seastrunk predicted he would win the Heisman Trophy next year and said "I know I am the best back in the country."[4] Seastrunk finished the season with 1,012 yards on 131 carries but averaged 138.2 yards per game and scored five touchdowns during Baylor's 4-1 run to end the season.[5] He did not win the Heisman Trophy.

Guy is a punk and a waste of time. Sometimes talent alone is not enough to overlook, especially when you have a history of having a crappy attitude and trouble with authority.
