You specifically said 5 years in your previous post. So you're saying LSU Baseball was not a prestigious program when we were playing in the CWS finals?

Do you consider Coastal Carolina a prestigious program?

That's not an answer, that's a question.

That’s a bad take

Your perception /=/ recruits perception

Coastal Carolina is not a prestigious program. That doesn't prevent a program from having a great year. That year, they were the best. That doesn't make them prestigious. Conversely, a down year, or even a few down years, does not cause a program to relinquish its status as being a prestigious program. It takes quite a few years to build that sort of status. Likewise, barring a program-specific scandal the likes of what Penn State football went through, it likely takes just as long to ruin it. I don't agree with Lester very often, but he is correct. Our perception of the program is not the perception of high school prospects.

I know a kid from BR who went to Miss State at a position of need last year.

Said first thing Pawl told them was “You should be lucky you’re standing in my office”. Knew right then that he wouldn’t be at LSU

And now he's in the transfer portal.

Well, Dylan and his 4 innings pitched are certainly missed, but if he didn't feel fortunate to be recruited by LSU then who gives a shite. Being recruited by LSU is an honor. If he took offense to the coach saying that, that's a him problem.

I don't know who the heck this "Dylan" is that we're talking about, or how much of a difference he would or would not make here, or elsewhere. But the most arrogant thing a coach can do is to tell someone "you should feel lucky to be standing in my office". If that story is true, that's messed up.

Yeah, it IS an honor to be recruited by LSU. Do we know that this kid said anything to the contrary? No matter how much of an "honor" you think you're giving someone by allowing them to stand in your presence, you don't make an overt show of arrogance about it.

I don't know what planet you live on to think that is acceptable behavior. If you're just being honest with a kid about what you see in him, and he takes offense, I have no problem with that, and I think the kid needs to suck it up in that scenario. Essentially telling a kid to bow and kiss your ring is BS.

Guess he's not going to put in his time and earn some more opportunities on the mound playing for the defending National Champions.

We don’t know if any of these things are true either fwiw. It may have been a simple comment about LSU only recruiting the best and being privileged to be in that position, and the kid and the other poster took it the way you describe.

Answer to all this is LSU is a second rate program thanks to PAWL. Hopefully new coach can bring us back.

The guy is gone, but you’re still here so apoplectic about his existence that you can’t even count to 4.
