We got the 5* shooting guard and the point guard out of Walker. We are taking the 6'8" teammate of the 5* star which make sense but he's a bench guy.

I'm seeing Watford projected early as a one-and-done and possible 1st round pick. I guess Williams and Days will both be back unless they are tired of college basketball.

Seems like this class needs a legitimate big. Any legitimate prospects left out there in '20?

Watford isn’t going anywhere. He is having a hard time settling in to the college game. One more year is needed. My opinion of course..

Obviously a lot can change, but right now he's projected as a 1st rounder in just about all mock drafts. Now, so was Naz and he eventually went undrafted. But that doesn't mean Watford wouldn't go. I think pretty much everyone on the LSU staff is anticipating he will be a one-and-done, though I don't think Wade has been as definitive about it as he was with Reid. Wade acknowledged virtually from day one that Reid was only going to spend 1 year at LSU

Point being, I think Watford would have to have a really poor year for him to come back next season. For LSU's sake I hope that is not the case

The 1 positive thing about Watford is Wade hasn't mentioned from the get go he's 1 and done. Last year with Reid he mentioned it right from the get go, even though some didn't want to believe it.

I think he'll still go pro though, especially if he develops pretty fast.

No way in hell. He’s at least a 2 year player. If he leaves, he’ll be going overseas.

Naz Reid is on 2-way contract with Minnesota T-wolves and their G-league affiliate after going undrafted, Watford wouldn't do any worse more than likely.

Oh he was originally on 2-way, but he is still in G-league right now assigned there. Has not appeared in 1 game for T-wolves

Reid's contract is stated at either 3 or 4 years depending on internet sourcing. It is up to $4.2 million at 3 years or around 6 mill for 4 years. The sources I find only say the first year at around $900k is guaranteed.

I get very peeved when message board experts opine on whether college athletes, especially basketball players should or should not go pro. We don't know what the persons academic or financial wants and needs happen to be. We don't know what the family situation is. We don't know what the coaches, advisors, and NBA eval results happen to be. There is the issue about injury risk and only so much basketball mileage a body can take. There are limited number of guaranteed contracts available, a number of ways to make money both home and abroad, and more rapid improvement spending full time practicing. So, I don't think most of the posters, including me, should be given much credence about whether a player should or should not leave early for professional employment. I would like all LSU athletes to spend 4 years playing for LSU, but I feel that each athlete should do what is best for themselves.

I didn't disbelieve that Wade thought that. I just didn't think he was the lottery pick that people were guaranteeing he would be. And he wasn't. It's a shame he didn't come back for another year but, oh well.

Reid struggled from the start as well
From what I've seen so far Watford is not a lottery pick
Things can change though
Teams always look ragged during some of these non conf tilts
Let's see how he does during SEC play
Reid played very well once it flipped to SEC play, his problem was not being in shape for combines and other things.

I don't think there is any correlation between being ready for the NBA and leaving as a one and done. I think the safest assumption is any top 25 overall player out of high school/McDonalds A-A, etc. is going to be a one and done unless something unusual happens. It's essentially predetermined. Unless you have a kid who really is enjoying college they are leaving whether that results in being a first round pick and getting guaranteed contract or doing the G-League/Europe tour.
Regardless, I think this team needs a legit 6'9"+ inside player and will still need one in 2020-21 whether Watford comes back or not.
