Austin Thomas...Roster Management

Will having Austin back help us at all with him trying to make sure we are adequately stocked at each position group? I see so many comments on the fact that we have under recruited at certain positions and believe it's probably true. I would assume he might help with this, or is that not his wheelhouse?

I don’t care what Austin does as long as helps get the offensive line situation changed. That should be all he focuses on.
I mean that’s the type of shite he supposed to do right? Be a GM

I don't know how a guy whose sole responsibility is using a P-Touch Labeler will help bring in offensive linemen.

Anybody know what his job description is?
Who does he report to?

If Austin was doing his job why wouldn’t Emery be eligible

That should be all he focuses on.
James Cregg missed on many guys and most of the ones he hit on were bust.
Every year you should look to sign
1- QB
1- RB
3- WR
4- Oline
1- TE
4- Dline
2- LB
4- DBs (at least 2 true corners)
Then you use the 5 remaining spots to fill in your roster holes
But when you whiff like we did last year and land 1 olineman and scramble to add another is when you end up starting the Harvard transfer at center that, god bless him, just can’t play at this level.
This year my extra 5 spots would be:
1- RB (2 total)
2- OL (6 total)
1- LB (3 total)
1- CB (3 total)

John either failed a class, cheated or he got someone to cheat for him. It’s pretty clear.
How is that Austin’s job?

From his bio on LSU Staff Directory...
"As LSU’s general manager, Thomas will work directly with Orgeron on the day-to-day operations and management of the program.
“It’s great to have Austin back with us,” Orgeron said. “He’s going to do an outstanding job with the day-to-day operations of our program. He’s bright, understands what it takes to be successful at the highest level of college athletics and will work closely with me to ensure that everything we do is geared towards winning more championships.”
Thomas’ first stay at LSU came from 2013-17 serving as a staff member before being elevated to general manager by Orgeron in 2016. At the time of his promotion, Thomas was the first general manager in the history of the Southeastern Conference and one of only two with that title in college football.
In his first two seasons at LSU, Thomas helped the Tigers claim back-to-back top five signing classes in 2014 and 2015, which included signing the nation’s top overall player in 2014. He was named the Personnel Director of the Year in 2015 and a finalist for the award in 2014."

He's been on the staff since January. Emery's issues clearly predate his time.

So he had spring/intercession/summer to get emery on track?
ETA: according to Damone its very clearly O's fault, but not the dude on charge of roster management?

Orgeron is the boss. It's ultimately all his fault because it's ultimately his responsibility.

But it’s not the kids fault who couldn’t stay eligible under a Interdisciplinary Studies which resulted in the hour shortage fiasco in the first place ? Lol

Is he still playing video games and having slumber parties with recruits? Kinda like he did with Jacob Phillips?
If so, keep doing that until it stops working Austin.
