Manning is at best a 4 star quarterback. He’s been shielded from having to compete against other top quarterbacks on the summer circuits and has been given benefit of doubt by having the Manning name. Local media slobbered over him beating a mediocre 5A team that was replacing their starting quarterback weeks before the game.

This has nothing to do with LSU

The top ranking and the subsequent media coverage is unfair to the kid. Everyone who covers or follows high school football knows Manning has been over-projected among Louisiana prospects, and when you bring the rest of the nation into the equation it’s much much worse. The Mannings didn’t do this, but the recruiting services could definitely stand for a do-over.

This board needs less posts about Arch Manning and Tackett Curtis and more about actual LSU recruits. Feels like stating the obvious but …

Don’t mind the Omarion Miller posts bc he was committed to us at one point and likely not headed to the school he is committed to.

I agree with your post completely but do want to comment on this part in particular.
The rankings sites did nothing unexpected with the way they have hyped him. That business is nothing but hype. To me all they did new(at least more transparently) is plainly show an example how big a con that business truly is and they've hooked millions of fans into selling out to what the rankings say. None of those guys are experts at evaluating these kids yet sell them like they are the end all be all. Anyone with eyes could tell you they have overranked Arch for the sole purpose of the dollar.
As for the Mannings complicity, they are guilty as charged. They have sheltered him from media(they select who and when), camps to compare against his peers and pretty much anything else most normal major recruits enjoy with the process. They've played into the hype machine by not allowing the process to work as it should. If he's really the alpha out there, send him to camps to compete with his peers and prove it. He's done none of that. Any other kid completely absent from the dog and pony shows would have their ranking dropped significantly yet not Arch. Why? Would venture a guess that the Mannings are using their name and access as influence. I just hope when folks are making excuses a few years down the road why he didn't live up to the hype, the Mannings get their fair share thrown at them as being to blame. They are as guilty as anyone in all of this.
