Arch Manning and his Uncles' recruitment

I posted this on the SEC Rant, but I thought it would get more traction and informative responses here.
I expect that once Arch commits, that's it. I'd be shocked if he were to change his mind, de-commit, and so forth. His family comes across as much more grounded than that.
That said, I also don't expect him to wait until National Signing Day to provide his commitment. Do any of you remember when Cooper, Peyton, and Eli committed? It's been so long ago, I can't quite remember.
ETA: I also think Tennessee and Duke being listed in the mix are just to appease and show respect to Peyton and Coach Cutcliffe. However, I do think there is some teeth in Georgia being listed. They are behind Ole Miss and LSU, but I wouldn't write them off.

His recruitment will be very interesting. Follow in the foot steps of his uncles, or go down is own path. Is there even a feeling right now on where he is leaning?

It was an ENTIRELY different world in terms of recruiting coverage/attention when Peyton signed, and even still with Eil.
Peyton had a small ceremony/press conference at his HS about a week before signing day to announce he was going to Tennessee. No one really announced "commitments" then. And if they did, it was generally very close to signing day and you ultimately signed with the school whom you publicly committed to. I recall Eil's recruitment being much the same way. There was very little coverage of recruiting. You knew some of the big national names and the really good players in your state, but that was about it.
But I don't think that was as much the case because of the family as much as it was there was no social media nor cottage industry of "recruiting coverage" at the time. I'm sure Arch's family will counsel him and help in every way. But you have to remember, this kid doesn't know a world without social media or recruiting "experts", paysites, etc. So I suspect his recruitment will be much like most top prospects today. Though probably not the circus act attention-whoring many other players make it out to be. I also suspect that once he commits somewhere that will probably be it. None of this "I'm 'committed' but still open to offers"

The only non power school that has a shot is Ole Miss, if Kiffin can turn things around rather quickly.
Outside of Ole Miss, he’ll end up at a school that most top QBs end up at.

Was Cooper even a scholarship athlete? People love to pretend he would've been an all pro WR running a 5.5 forty.

Manning’s will do their due diligence
A lot will depend on that head coach and off Coord to develop him
He still has a lot of development to go especially physically as he gets bigger and stronger
Although LSU will be in the mix based on what they finally showed offensively I would be shocked if it ends up being LSU and if LSU has him at top of their board
I would be happy with Holstein or manning but I don’t think they get both

Cooper was a 6'4" All-State wide receiver at Isidore Newman High School in New Orleans, putting up school-record numbers with then-sophomore Peyton as his QB during his senior season in 1991

After signing a scholarship to play football at Ole Miss, Cooper noticed atrophy in his right arm.

Manning is just a Soph. and 2023 is a looooong way away, anything can happen with CFB coaching staffs. I don't expect a commitment until the start of his Sr. year.
FYI, Peyton made it clear that he did not want to play in his father's shadow, and he did not want to play against Ole Miss. Peyton was likely going to sign with Michigan; however, he changed his mind after Cam Cameron left for the Redskins. Cutcliffe and Fulmer convinced Manning he would compete for the starting QB as a Freshman. Peyton announced his decision to sign with Tennessee on 1/25/94 (1 week before NSD) sending Ole Miss fans into a tizzy.

I remember when Eli was being recruited, Cooper had a sports talk show on WWL.
Each time a caller asked about Eli's favorite school, Ole Miss, TN, or where?
Cooper always answered, Oregon!
Caller: Why Oregon?
Cooper: He likes the "Beavers".

Ole Miss if Kiffin can start winning is a major threat. Same goes for Tennessee. Outside of that I could see Georgia making a good push as we have all seen top QBs flock there like it or not. Outside shot he leaves the SEC, you have to think Clemson. Then there is the home team LSU. We continue the path we are on now, we absolutely are in his final group.

Arch loves LSU. The Mannings love Coach O. The Mannings do not love Lane Kiffin. It may depend which qb’s are on the roster when he decides to commit. Right now LSU leads, but that means nothing.

I don't recall them being in it, though it was a long time ago and recruiting wasn't as big as it is now. I have heard Virginia was a strong contender but it seemed by the time he committed aside from Tennessee, Stanford and maybe Florida were the 2 most likely.

Michigan was in it, he liked Cam Cameron but then he took an NFL job.
Ole Miss
Florida
A&M iirc

Well lets go ahead and figure out if Nussmeier and Walker Howard intimidate him....bc that'll be the two in position to keep him on bench for a few years.
If Max Johnson is good....I dont see both Nuss and Walker hanging around. One will leave

So he’s going to Clemson

I don’t see him coming here. I think if his dad, uncle and grandpa all went to Ole Miss they won’t let him go to LSU. They won’t be able to get past that. But it all depends on Kiffin and what he does there. Honestly I could see him picking his own school but I doubt that is LSU.
