It's clearly a violation but minor relative to what else goes on.
Jones would be considered a booster by NCAA definition. Boosters are not allowed to contact prospects or their families.

Brian Thomas as #2WR overall, #3 player in state, #40 player overall In nation...#1WR in state
Jack Bech as #121WR overall, #22 player in state, #757 Player overall in nation...#7WR in state

Jacorey Brooks is now rated a 5 Star Recruit per the Composite 247sports Rankings. He has 99 receptions and nearly 1300 yards receiving his junior season at 6-Foot-3). Agiye Hall stands at 6-Foot-3 and just happens to be a track and field athlete. Christian Leary is a 4.39 guy in the 40 yard dash. Make no mistake about it, their wide receiver class is lethal.

LSU was the early favorite for Hootie Jones, who was top 50 player, high four star and top five La. recruit. Both LSU and Bama had plenty of other good recruits, but Hootie was considered a prize.
Nick and friends persuaded Hootie to leave La.
Hootie de-committed but it was too late: Jamal Adams took his place.
Turns out Jamal is all-Pro and Hootie never drafted. Injuries.

. I just don't understand why we let the random but not TS or Surge. And I could be totally wrong with him already being allowed. To Pat's point just have to get approval.
