Yeah this class will end up with a similar ranking to last year if we can't close on some of these guys. That's not the end of the world, but after a Natty, it's disappointing.

Y'all, this is where we've gotten to in recruiting. Checking for which goddamn bracelets an 18 yo is wearing. I draw the line at purple socks.

This is a question, not a comment: does O ever close strong in recruiting, particularly with surprises or toss up recruits?
Does O recruit elite RB’s well compared to other top 5 programs?

My dude you need to stop reading into stuff. I see nowhere on the message boards of any of this. Neither on the LSU 247 board or Ohio State 247 board. Yes you are correct about Davis still being in contact with Ohio state. But Birm a insider on the letterman row for Ohio state has stated it’s unlikely for Davis to flip and compares it to Elias ricks recruitment where buckeye fans think there is smoke in reality it’s not. He also said he thinks Leigh ends up at LSU.

Yeah it's quite bizarre that he paints this sky is falling scenario all of a sudden. Recruiting may not be something he wants to keep following if he falls off the rails that easily.

John Emery #1 RB, TDP #6 RB according to 247 best RB haul in the country last year. So there’s the answer to your stupid statement.

Do you remember John Emery and Tyrion Davis-Price who will be sophomores next season?

Ohio State feels much more confident with Leigh. They are also confident they will flip either Raesjon or Barret Carter.
tOSU definitely making up ground with Leigh.

But this is one of those quirky things in recruiting that most of us have a hard time wrapping our heads around because you do not see it often in real life.

I'll rephrase...

tOSU is making up ground with Leigh, but LSU is not loosing any.

However, I think this is the what I like to call "make me a sandwich" phase. Let's just say the love being thrown the Buckeyes way MIGHT wane. See where it goes after the bash. And if he's attending such things, it is also polite, reasonable, and expected to throw some love their way. So even though it isn't fake love, it is likely exaggerated at this time a bit.

Be warned, if it doesn't wane over the next couple of weeks, you know- after the sammich, then tOSU is likely to be in a slight lead.

Them not playing this fall should hurt their chances with a lot of recruits they are going after. This is just another reason for why we need to play.

Closing well has changed since the early signing day and Coach O has done very well closing on that. As for surprises, has there ever been a more suprise commitment than Arik Gilbert? He singlehandedly broke the crystal ball feature.
As for Feb closing, O and the staff have had some misses there but it's a different dynamic now. Most kids that wait it out are either major kids with commitment issues(Jordan Burch, who we recruited as well as anyone but home cooking won out), kids with long-standing relationships that we've tried to get in on late, or late bloomers, film risers like Alex Adams and Kevontre Bradford. Have been some missteps that no one will deny.
He landed 2 elite RBs 2 cycles ago, one taken away from UGA, who just so happens to recruit rbs as well as anyone and the other,TDP, that Bama had as the top guy on the board for quite a while and also recruited hard until the end. Last cycle was all about Zach Evans and his issues. We recruited him as well as anyone and at one point could've had him committed. He kind of set us back with other elite guys. This class is about how people view Kiner. Rivals loves him, 247 not so much. Regardless he's a top 10 back. As for elite, depends on your definition of elite. Imo there's 1 "elite" RB in the class(Treyveon Henderson) with a strong group of very good ones. 3 of which we are still involved, Wheaton, Edwards and Johnson. Next year we already lead for at least 2 top notch backs, Blue and Moss.

I’m sure this has been discussed before but I’ve never paid attention. How is our total score calculated on 247?

That's stupid, it's not going to hurt their chances with a lot of recruits.
