Plenty private school seniors turn 19 right after the August cut off date. And that additional year at that age of growth makes a big difference too.

How often does a school like Newman (2A) beat a (5a) school like Hahnville?

Back in the day (90’s and 2000’s) evangel beat several and haynesville even almost beat west Monroe who pulled it out in the end by 4.

Was a different time back then but it can and has been done before

You'll be pleased if LSU's qb puts those numbers up tonight?

The words “upside”, “potential”, “make-up”, “pedigree”, “talent”, etc. are 100% going to get used as excuses.

Hope nothing but the best for the kid but the hype definitely doesn’t match the production.

That would somewhat explain redshirting the # 1 player in the nation . One of the most outlandish things I've ever seen in any sport.

That may be for actual academic reasons unlike white private school kids who gets held back in upper lower and middle school for sports.

ohn Curtis beat 5A schools so much they asked to become one

John Curtis was buying players way before it was cool to do so! So easy to waive tuition for a student when you own the school.

10 yards per attempt seems solid.

This is very TRUE. I have firsthand experience as I was "offered" to play for Curtis back in 1977.

Then? Maybe

Now? They all do what Curtis does, hence why they’ve fallen off
