Yap. QB openings dictate QB movement

If LSU has another good offensive year and Nuss is what we think he is, QBs from other teams will be lining up around the block to transfer to LSU

Even if they don't lsu can easily get a top qb transfer.

Hey! Sorry I am just now getting to to look into this.
Our side doesn't appear to be on him nearly as heavy as the other suitors. if picking today it's between SMU and Moo State.
“I don’t have a set schedule but I do have some schools that I plan to go see,” Zeigler remarked. “I plan to see Mississippi State, Tennessee, Auburn, Michigan and SMU.”

Haven is right up selecting Napier to develop him to be an NFL QB instead of BK. Sorry but considering we are empty at QB, that is sad.
BK isn’t working hands on with QBs dumbass. Neither is Napier.

Disagree. John Mateer would have been a monster in this offense. Can you see him and Caden Durham in the backfield? Carson Beck had problems with turnovers like Nuss, however his WRs dropped more passes than anyone else in the country making him look worse. Improvement at LSU would have turned him into whatever elite passer Nuss will be this year. Fernando Mendoza was a legit NFL talent at Cal. He is 6'5 225 and is a pure passer but also has wheels. Darian Mensah, the guy from Tulane was a freshman last year and put up great numbers. He can run and has an NFL build. He would have also been elite and a heisman level player at LSU this year.
Please. NONE of these guys would have been a sure-fire upgrade at QB. None of them have played against this level of competition consistently and most of them have had ups and downs to say the least. I do not expect Mateer to walk into the SEC and be a top half of the league QB. This class was very mediocre when it comes to PROVEN QB talent and experience.
You CANNOT count on the portal for QBs year to year. There is no way to bank on their being a P4 guy with starting experience like Riley Leonard or a guy with obvious difference-maker ability like Cam Ward. Will Howard was no star, but at least he had the experience and high-level athleticism to be an upgrade at QB for Ohio State.
The only guy you mentioned who MIGHT be on this level is Mateer, but he may also be a classic system guy and a bust vs SEC defenses. There’s a reason OU brought his OC to Norman, as well. And we all know that wouldn’t have happened here, which would have made him an even bigger potential bust.
I wouldn’t take Mensah at LSU if he was fricking free. Heisman
It’s one thing to take an insurance guy like MVB, or fill a hole for a season, but if you count on the portal for QBs on a yearly bases like some of you idiots are advocating, your luck will run out just based on who’s available and if they happen to work dropped onto your roster. If you hit a lean class or can’t get your guy for whatever reason, or they just don’t work, it’s a shite-load of money down the drain for a mediocre to bad season. And then you’re right back to the portal for another patch, instead of a guy you develop and know.

This is horseshite. LSU wasn’t fighting anyone for Daniels because he’s was coming off a mediocre season and an injury before that. Sure, we can get a guy in that position, but who knows if they will work out. Considering where we were at the time, it was a smart move.
We aren’t there today. You don’t take a guy like Daniels was coming in who you can’t trust to be the guy. And if there are 3-5 other big time programs vying for a portal QB, especially from the SEC and upper Big 10 who can match or exceed money, then there is absolutely no guarantee of this. Even if guys better than we saw in this class are willing to leave where they are, it’s still going to be a fight to get one…just like recruiting HS players only with fewer options.

What other major programs made offers when he hit the portal?

He was pretty much committed to Mizzou. Regardless of whether you think they’re a major program, they’ve won 21 games the last two years and are in the SEC.

I would not, especially when it comes to QBs.
If we are chasing a starting P4 QB coming off of a good season, Mizzou would be the least of our worries. Over the last few seasons, Oregon, Ohio State, Texas, USC and Miami have all taken portal QBs who were top 3 in that class. None of those programs are short of cash.
I’m just saying it’s not a foregone conclusion that we can just show up and get our top choice year after year.

That said, I think we still need to heavily recruit high-school QBs.

There's hardly a better recruiting tool in the NCAA than a big game atmosphere with a win in Death Valley. These are kids, and new is exciting. He's seen LSU so many times that he's comfortable. It's okay that he's looking around, but I really feel like at when all the dominoes fall home will win. The comfort of being close to home and having that support around will be the deciding factor.
