re: '22 4* OT Will Campbell commitment watch 1/30Posted by dwright369 on 1/13/21 at 12:09 pm to Tzanghi
Your not alone in being a little concerned about ND, Tzanghi.
That said, I think we should have more “reserved optimism” about our chances (i.e., a quite confidence about WC to LSU). From what I read, WC And his family have deep, passionate connection and history with LSU.
In addition, he is close friends with Walker Howard and Jack Bech. While the recent “burn” from Tristan Leigh can still be felt by most tiger fans (myself included), we really do have much in our favor when it comes to WC.
Proximity to home, long-standing ties direct to the University, Close friends in his ear pulling with us (not against us), and WC himself has the LSU passion already ingrained in his DNA (having grown up around the program-albeit, a bit further away than if he lived in BR).
And while I am still a little “gun shy” to get my hopes up 100%, screw it - I’m ridin the “WC to LSU train”!!!

It has to be...
quote:Indeed. BUT... for OL don't recruit weight and strength.
Moffitizing needed badly.
Recruit feet/athleticism and frame.
With the right athleticism and frame, weight and strength are [more] easily developed.
Athleticism and frame are hard to manufacture and impossible to develop, respectively.
At least for OTs. And they are high school recruits. There is a bare bones minimum of 2 years time until you know where the weight and strength are going to end up. So don't base your decision on a variable 2 years out. Athleticism and frame are much more predictable.
Campbell fits this strategy, for lack of a better term, perfectly.

but Deculus makes clear that they can underwhelm.
Deculus will be a 4 year starter and a contributor all 5 years he’s been here. He helped win us a NC. If that’s underwhelming y’all set your expectations way too damn high.

No, not really. A tackle rated 97 in the composite should not let up as much pressure off the edge as he does. They should also be more than just a contributor.

I saw him get flagged on more than one occasion for basically playing too rough with the defensive lineman. He was dominating so much the referee flagged him. I like this trait in the young man. Where ever he goes he will be a fine addition.

Definitely not going to the Tide.

I saw his highlight where he threw a Westgate player like a rag doll and then went to help him up immediately. Seems like the kind of guy you want on your team.

Refreshing that it's not Bama involved in Top 2

Looks like you might be safe . . . this time.

Certainly OL recruiting has been lacking, but if he commits, then Dumervil, Dellinger and Campbell are a solid group of young tackles, all highly recruited.
