You’ll find out during the draft who has a realistic chance of making it to campus. We might get hit harder than usual this year. There are like 10 legit draft risks in this year’s class.

Dandy Don has a pretty good analysis of it in his today’s report.

It has become more & more difficult trying to discern who shows up and who doesn’t. You used to be able to peg about 85% of the class, but things are so much different now.
The kids that in the past would not consider college, are now legitimately torn. This is good for lsu of course, but also make these threads pretty pointless.

See if guys pull out of the draft that’s about the only real way to know. Once they get drafted it’s because the money aspect has been worked out for the most part.

Looking at this list I see 1 catcher. I hope he can receive and throw baserunners out that are at least held on properly at first because we sure didn't have one of those last season.
Anybody know if we are pursuing one in the portal? Also, with regard to Serna and Arrambide what other positions can they play besides hitter.
Are we hoping to improve them with coaching behind the plate?

There are no plans to change anything up at catcher next season, we return Arrambide and Serna, those are your top 2 and everyday lineup guys. We arent going to take one of them out of the lineup frequently just to get a more defensive minded catcher back there.
At best it would be very very late game defensive replacement if one exists. No portal catcher expecting decent playing time is going to want to come here.

Just curious and we have been talking about this on the Mississippi State board with our HS and portal signees. How are SEC schools going to manage the new 34 man roster limits. Are teams just gonna cut guys in December who aren’t good enough to contribute as a fr.
Maybe place them in a Juco for a year for development to monitor ?
