With the latest update to the Top247 for the 2023 class, there are now 10 prospects from the state of Louisiana who made the list - and a handful more who are on the brink of jumping into the Top247 as they begin their junior seasons.

The No. 1 ranked prospect in Louisiana remained Newman quarterback Arch Manning, who moved up two spots to the No. 2 overall prospect in the country. LSU and double-digit other programs have already offered the sophomore, who has two years of high school football in front of him. LSU was among the seven schools Manning and his family visited in the months of June and July.

Three more players from The Boot checked into the Top 100 in Westgate safety Derek Williams, Catholic High wide receiver Shelton Sampson Jr., and University High linebacker Jaiden Ausberry, with Ausberry moving up seven spots and including closer to becoming a Top 50 overall recruit.

Jaiden Ausberry has to be all LSU with his dad playing, and now in an administrative role, at LSU.

I wouldnt be so sure of that, if we dont get his older brother, that would probably tell a lot about where Jaiden is headed as well, at least to here or not to here.

Crazy the talent 2022 and 2023 are for Louisiana right now. Locking down the state is the number 1 priority. Then go fill in holes out of state. 2024 and 2025 may be just as talented. Going to be interesting how Covid and lack of evaluation periods impacts everything.

LSU offer big for 2023 in-state offensive tackle

quote:

“Coach said he liked my size and the way I moved and how I was physical,” Jones told Geaux247. “He said he wanted to offer me and wanted me at LSU. But he said I had things I needed to work on, so not to stop working. I got a lot of good stuff from the camp.”

So far, LSU, Colorado, Tulane and UL-Lafayette are Jones’ reported offers. Expect that list to grow a lot over the next two years with interest from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Texas, Texas A&M and many others.

The second OL/DL camp gave Davis his first opportunity to work with prospects since LSU tabbed him as its new O-line coach the first week in June. Jones liked what he saw from the Baton Rouge native.

“I feel good about coach Davis, and we are developing a good relationship,” Jones said. “You could tell he knows a lot about the position, and he loves being at LSU.”

Jones is looking forward to a more normal 2021 campaign that includes spending some Saturdays on college campuses to take in games. He is also eager to get another shot for a state title after falling short to 2022 LSU commitment Walker Howard and St. Thomas More in December.

Good looking OL recruit -somewhat strange he is not among the top 20. OL from Neville is included - 2 OL prospects in state next year. Hope more develop during the season.

WR Shelton Sampson Jr. - Sampson made a big splash ahead of his sophomore season when he clocked a sub 4.40 seconds 40-yard dash at Catholic High's Pro Day,

Well it’s very likely we’re only getting 1 out of the 3 quarterbacks, so that would mean we’d have to go 13/13 on the rest. I’m sure we’ll get a high percentage, but 100% is a lot to ask for, not to mention we would have to actually want them all. 12 sounds more realistic.

Surprised Rickie Collins is so low.

IMO Rickie might not be as polished as Arch and Eli right now but he has the highest ceiling. They all should be NFL draft picks when their college careers are over.

Well, he didn't say who's top 16. If you're gonna be great at forecasting, you can't nail that shite down. Getting even one of the 3 qbs is not even that close to being a certainty, and pulling all the rest is highly unlikely.
