2022 may or may not be the greatest class in LA recruiting history. Not really here for that debate. I will say that there is some really good talent and it’s not all too heavy like some years. Highly touted guys down the list. Off of the 247 LA List up to LA’s, the top 16 are for sure all takes for LSU. Some below may be takes depending on needs and misses outside the state.
1-16 includes
1QB- Walker Howard 4 Star 98 (Current LSU Commit)
2OL- OT Will Campbell 4 Star 98 (LSU Lean
- OG Emery Jones 3 Star 88
4WR- Shazz Preston 4 Star 97 (LSU in good position, but brother plays at Miss St.)
- Aj Johnson 4 Star 91 (Lives with Arch Manning)
- Aaron Anderson 3 Star 89 (Current LSU Commit)
- Decoldest Crawford 3 Star 88 (Current LSU Commit. Seems like everyone has a hard on for his name.)
3RB- Le’veon Moss 4 Star 96 (LSU Lean)
- Trevor Etienne 4 Star 94 (Yep another Etienne probably Clemson bound)
- TreVonte’ Citizen 4 Star 93
1ATH- Kendrick Law 4 Star 96 (LSU Lean. Plays WR/S. Likely a NB at LSU)
1S- Jacoby Mathews 4 Star 97 (We have 2 S ranked higher from Texas currently committed. Not sure how this plays with him. I’ve heard he could play more of a LB in the future.)
1CB- Laterrance Welch 4 Star 94 (we are probably targeting higher guys but he is a baller)
1WDE- J’Mond Tapp 4 Star 94 (Shea said he has a chance to shoot up board when/ if camps resume)
2DT- Tygee Hill 4 Star 92 (Similar situation to Tapp according to Shea. Could see a boost)
- Shone Washington 4 Star 91 (Current LSU Commit)

LA ‘22 Recruits 247 Rankings

We should be in a good position to land the majority of the guys and if not it’s likely that we chose to go else where. Out of the top 16 I’d say we land 13 from the state.
1QB, 2OL, 3WR, 1-2RB (depending on outside of state interest.), 2DT, 1WDE, 1ATH, 1S( if we want), and 1CB (if we want). Overall a damn strong foundation for the ‘22 class. If not all the scholarships from ‘21 are filled with HS, Juco, or Transfers ‘22 could be a good year to have an extra laying around.

Noticeably missing is LBs. will likely go outside the state for that. Will likely look at top CB talent outside of thats. Currently have top Safeties from Texas. Multiple OL and DL are being offered and have shown interest. (LSU has offered 24 OTs for the ‘22 class. This is much higher than the normal amount offered we put out. We may have interest in Outside RB and WR also.

Full list of LSU offers per 247

LSU should be taking around 13-15 from Louisiana next year.

DAMN STRONG! Really excited to see how the soon to be new staff will capitalize on recruiting all this instate talent. Build the Wall! I heard Austin Thomas will have a large Roll in Talent Evaluation/Recruiting/Roster Management. He did a damn good job last time he was here.

Good info! Thanks for posting.

Of course, a vast majority of posters will say the two offensive linemen are must gets. Thankfully, there will be two in state ones, which as we realize, is a rarity.

Yea Dwright369 I agree your list looks much better. I can only procrastinate so much at work. Couldn’t make it pretty. I need to finish this report.

The last I heard, LSU and Georgia were his leaders.

If I'm Etienne's brother I want nothing to do with Clemson. That would set impossible expectations

The Fournette Experience.... 6’1” 240 4.5 40 physical specimen
Brother 5’10” 185 got the raw end of the gene pool for that family.

But I heard his family had bad taste for LSU after the way everything went down.

Pretty sure I read somewhere that rather go to another college than Clemson to make his own legacy .

The latest was that the S from Texas who was teammates with Earle could end up decommitting.

The OL from Catholic is all LSU and he and Howard are already friends. The WR from Catholic in the 23 class will be one to watch when the out of state offers start coming in - UGA will be one to watch and Bama will be on him soon.

So you think we only finish with 1 5 star? I know we are in the running for a bunch of them. I highly doubt Shemar is the only one we land. Especially if we have a nice bounce back year.

TreVonte Citizen from Lake Charles College Prep also plays inside linebacker. He’s similar to Patrick Queen when he came out of high school. He’s just a serious athlete wherever he plays on the field.

I was curious if one of the RBs would consider playing Linebacker. Would be interesting for sure. We’ve done fantastic converting rbs to lbs.

I really hope Welch is a priority. That dude can ball. He’s underrated.
