Some don't realize you cannot sign a Fournette or Guice every year. The backs signed will be solid players starting in their freshmen year and the returning guys are not too shabby , just had to wait their turns.
Star power will return in next years class.

Being 12th in the nation with a coach who is known for recruiting is not what I expected in the "Binder"

More highly rated than most of Clemson's classes the past few years and that did not turn out too badly. Its not always about the mythical ratings of high school players, but filling needs and projecting how players will fit into your concepts.
By tomorrow the class will be top ten by those mythical standards. Bet at least half make it to an NFL camp in the next 3 to 4 years.

Solid class. My only concerns at this point is; A. Possibly no QB, I know Foster might not be a program changer, but we need to sign capable QBs every single year. Havent we learned? B. What are the backups to PS2 and Chase? I know most think Chase is in, but if we miss him the class takes a significant hit. Also, PS2 potentially being not 100% LSU concerns me.
That said, if we finish with all three above, I think this class is a very solid class.

We get Chase, but lose out on PS2, Foster, and Goodrich. No way we make it in the top 10.

Overall the class is a "B".
What could have been better:
1.) If we end up with Chase then we took 1 to many WRs. That spot could have gone to a QB
2.) While I'm happy we are loading up in the trenches, I do think we took 1 to many DLinemen. That spot could have gone to Harold Joiner - RB
Other than that, its not to much to be concerned about. We have to start securing the instate elite QB if we want to win championships but that the Justin Rogers die was cast before O so I'm not going to blame him for it.

C'mon man...SOLID used to be top five in the nation for our program. If No. 12 in the nation is our new standard, then maybe your blog is noteworthy.
We have not been top 5 every year. Those years that we were, we had no direction.....as evidenced by our need to fill holes in O & D lines. Take notice of where Clemson is now, and realize that Sweeney did this without top 5 classes, until very recently. you build a house from the foundation and the lines are the foundation.

I wanna be a big "O" fan, but this program seems to be headed in the wrong direction or should I say directions (recruiting, coaching, deflections, etc.)
No one hates LSU as well as LSU hates LSU...........

I do hope we get Chase and Surtain. Would be a nice job by Coach Corndog.

It this is indeed how it goes down it's VERY underwhelming.

I really like this class. Chase and Surtain are basically must gets though.

FAKE NEWS
When will this myth die. Clemson classes were top 5 from a player average stand point. They just haven't singed 27 people like majority of the other schools.

I have zero confidence in a website differentiating between the No. 12 and No.5 recruiting class.
Once your class is that high, there is little difference.

This comment deserves response.
Increasingly, there is a disparity in class quality between the top 3 -5 classes and the rest.
And, those who occupy the top 5 or so switch places, resulting in a talent imbalance over time. We used to flirt with that stratosphere of recruiting talent.
A very few programs can compete for championships, but are not consistently in the very top classes (Clemson, for example).
These exceptional programs have exceptional coaches.
LSU is drifting away from both groups (exceptional recruiting classes and exceptional coaches).

We had the #2 class in 2016. Next year we will be back in the top 5. Having the #7 class in a year the coach gets shitcanned and finishing in the top 10-12 this year doesn’t establish a trend. If the class isn’t top 5 next year, then there will be a pattern. Otherwise, it’s really no different that recruiting has been the past 15 years. Why do people forget past classes like we’ve perennially signed top 5?
