In reference to the Dallas Morning News article.

Rivals should start using the term "oral commit". They could say "strong oral" or "soft oral".

Mathieu wasn't a WTF commitment, not even close. Stories of him dominating Tennessee's camp had already circulated.

I don't think Claiborne was a WTF commitment either. He was more of a back burner that the staff offered late in the process.

A WTF commitment is Rocky Duplessis.

I think Claiborne was a WTF commit, but that's because no one had seen him before because he was playing for a school that wasn't particularly good. Once his film started to trickle in, I remember posters starting to think that he was really underrated (which he was).

It can go both ways, for every Claiborne, you have a Rockey D. For every Patrick Peterson, you have a Chris Davenport. But our track record with kickers has been very good so far.

Botts was a punter, so he wasn't really necessary with Wing getting past the Clearinghouse (that whole issue was ridiculous from the start).

Wing>>>Botts IMO.

I think that had more to do with the lack of film. Wasn't there exactly zero film on him at first. Once everyone saw film, most saw his athletic talent fairly quickly. But, yeah, initially everyone was caught off guard.

Get over it. Les likes his specials teams to be solid and uses scholly's on his kick game (P/PK). We have had a good history of kickers and punters under Les that have been given scholly's. Not so much under the Crimson Weasel. If he turns out like Colt David and Josh Jasper, great. I like a good kicking game. Also, the kid is athletic from what I read and our kickers need ball skills as well...

How did we beat out Buffalo and Air Force?

Don't know about Buffalo, but I think the Air Force Falcon flying out of independence stadium sealed the deal for us with this kid.

I wish we would have gotten this kid in the class earlier, then maybe we wouldn't have lost Josh Bell to Texas.
